    Hi everybody,

I've been seeing some bull bars on Facebook marketplace and I've been looking at buying one. Are they generic and then the mouting hardware is what is vehicle specific?

I'm just looking to add some lighting in the front, nothing fancy.

Hello! The bull bars I am familiar with are fairly specific to the vehicle. Some let you continue to have the use of your tow hooks while others do not. I have an Aires bull bar that I got just for mounting an LED light bar to mine. Where people get into trouble is when they think that a bull bar will provide front-end protection for your truck and they don't. Matter of fact, in a front-end collision, they can fold in and actually do more damage by damaging the radiator, etc. Here is mine before I had mounted my light bar:

    After mounting the light bar:

Yes vehicle specific unless you can fab your own mounts

Yeah, I'm not looking for crash protection. I just want some more lighting up front.

Well, in that case, a bull bar will work for you. That was my goal as well.
