Looking at purchasing a 2008 crew cab SR5 TRD. It has 156,000 miles on it with a 5.7 and an automatic. Do you guys think this is a good buy at $12,000. It does have about $3000 to 4000 worth of scrapes and paint work needed from the guys wife, scraping a pole. The interior is really clean and it’s an 1 owner Truck. Do you feel it will hold its value and were there any specific engine problems?

Check for the cam tower leaks.

Also, get under it and check the frame. Rust is what generally kills Toyotas, long before engine failures.

16 grand after repairs? Nope! Maybe 10 and put the 6 in the bank for repairs. Go price tires/parts and fluids. It's gonna set you back to get that old truck in solid roadworthy condition again. There's a reason it's being sold and you should think carefully about why.
