My tundra has 136,500 miles, it’s been sitting at my moms house for about a month now since I’m active duty in training can’t drive it. She tried starting it today, didn’t want to turn on. I replaced the battery before I left 5 months ago it’s a new battery. I told her to get a neighbor to help her jump it, he said it’s not wanting to jump that it might be the starter. I’m not there in person to see it myself. Do you guys think it’s time at 136k mileage to change the starter? Or should I ask somebody else to help my mom start it? Any recommendations on starters to order? Anyone have an idea of how the labor/replacement is going to run me? Appreciate all you guys

I have 260k miles on my 2007 4.7L still on the original starter, it could be the battery if it hasn’t been driven for 5 months even with a new battery. I would expect $1k for a new starter with installation, hopefully it’s the battery

I don’t drive my truck very much just 1x a week for about 50 miles just to keep the battery in good shape and oil flowing in the engine. I wasn’t driving my truck for about 5-7 months went to start it and was very dead learned my lesson

I'll second the battery... If she can describe the noise to you, would be best... 2 weeks with not turning it on, these trucks kill them batteries.. In NorCal a starter 5 years ago was about 1,800

I’d say the battery too, if there’s someone that can take it to autozone they’ll check it for free and charge it. Or if y’all have someone near by with a multimeter, that’ll tell you how it’s doing volts wise.
