I have a 2024 SR5. I had a 10k service last Friday. I drove a roadtrip on Sunday. It was shaking. No obvious signs of damage.

Brought it to a dealership in my destination and they said alignment was fine and balancing was good. However, the vehicle seemed to be stuck in 4WD. I was confused. I’ve never even touched that button before. Haven’t used 4x. Switch position was in 2x. They lifted vehicle on lift, switched to drive, heard it release. Now there’s no more issue.

My big question is, does this mean my 4x system is messed up? How do I test this? I did verify today that it does engage in 4H and 4L. However, I didn’t drive. Just made sure the display showed on.

    Any experience with this?

My truck had issues disengaging 4x4. I drive snow quite a bit in the winter and use it often. It would shift out of 4x4, but felt like front end remained engaged. Stop , put in Park, reverse while turning would unlock it. I changed front diff oil and transfer case fluid. Have had the truck almost 2 years 60k miles and it seems to disengage much easier now.
I attributed the issue to new gears being "tight".

Another member here had a transfer case replaced and his truck was making a noise. Did they inspect your transfer case?

Almost sounds like someone tested the 4x4 at your 10k service and forgot to disengage and you somehow missed it on your trip a day later ??

They didn’t. I asked if everything was ok and they said there were no codes. I didn’t know everything had codes. Please excuse me as I’m not a mechanical expert.

I drove 1,025 miles. I didn’t feel anything off other than a vibration, which I thought might be balancing.

Just curious, you never engaged into 4X4 for 10K miles? You never exercised the transfer case per Yota manual instructions?

Oh how dumb do I feel right now. No, I have not. I’ve only had it since January and just haven’t thought about it since it’s not beach season.
