    Folks,

    I could use your help.
    I have a 2016 CrewMax with 5.29's 35's (I know, sorta small), a DAP tune, and about 100k miles.

A couple of months ago the trans felt sluggish, and I figured I would do a transmission drain, filter change, and install a TransGo shift kit to sure up some of the known wear points in the valve body.

Following the valve body mods and the refill (took about 10 QTs) it accelerates like a dream, BUT when coming up to a light as I brake there is a downshift at 25mph and it is very clunky.

It has gotten a little better over the few days since the service, but it seems to have leveled off to a point where it's very noticeable every time it downshifts at that 25mph point.

    It's not throwing any codes.

Does anyone have any advice, or have you experienced this after using a TransGo or Sonnax kit?

    Thanks in advance!
    Matt

Shift kits cause firmer shifting. Thats the point, quicker shifts, harder, to get in gear faster so less temps in the trans.

Truck is tuned, modded so it is not going to feel like stock. And no idea on the installs quality, actual fluid levels, so many things could be off or wrong.

One thing I can offer, lube your drivetrain zerks and ujoints. Toyotas will clunk when downshifting and especially coming to a stop if the driveshafts, need grease. Your 2016 should have zerks, where the newer years changed to unserviceable driveshafts.

@frichco228 - I appreciate the advice on the zerks and ujoints. I regreased those about a month.

And I gotcha about the mods. I know it will run and shift differently.
I also have a '67 Firebird with a Turbo400 that I put a shift kit in, too and I know it'll change the characteristics.

My hope is if anyone has advice on how to smooth that particular shift point when I'm on the brakes and it shifts at 25mph?
