Happy April fool's Day fellow Toyota enthusiasts! Just got a new to me tundra 2005 double cab four-wheel drive 244 on the clock owned it about a month and driven it 3 days been broke down the rest lol. Used to have a 2002 Sequoia which I sold couple of years ago with 585k on the clock and still was running like the day rolled off the showroom floor. My goal is to hit a million miles but life at a different plans for me. Anyways I'm in Richmond Virginia just told her that I got is very nice limited aside for the frame being almost rusted in half directly in the middle of the truck and a computer that was soaking wet I'm pretty sure that I'll be happy. Oh and the fact somebody cut the Cadillac converters off the thing already. So first things first I need a new ECU I figured out that a sequoia ECU will not work in a tundra because the sequoia's already had an immobilizers on them and the tundra did not so yeah it starts up now for about 1 second and shuts off paperclip trick did not work. So back to the drawing board. I have an eprom reader although for the life of me I cannot figure out which one to read so I can rewrite the VIN but I think I'm just going to try to find another computer anyway thanks for the add y'all more to come!.

Understanding that you're using a newer Sequoia computer with an older Tundra engine?? Probably not going to work... Assuming they're similar years +/- 1 year you will need to pull the ECU pins for both model years and see if they match, otherwise you will need to re-pin the ECU harness to match what you need. You also need to figure out if the engines are similar, for example VVT-i vs. Non- VVT-i. Other than that, you can probably try Tanin Electronix for an ECU rebuild, but email them first, if not you may need a fresh one, or compare prices see which option is cheaper.

@blackdemon_tt they're both 2005 tundras did not have an immobilizer in 2005 the sequoias did and that's why it starts up and then turns right off I'm not sure what you mean by pull the pins? The computer board out of the Sequoia looked exactly the same as the one that was in mine although on the silver box the case the second part of the number was different. I'm thinking if I just find a tundra ECM then it should be plug and Play cuz there's no immobilizer to deal with. Thanks for the advice my friend and look forward to fixing this rig and shooting the shit!

Most ECUs will look the same. Very much like my SC400 ECU is technically interchangeable with the LS and GS platforms, but some pins on the ECU are switched around. Which keep it from being a straight up plug and play. It is a lot more work than it's worth tbh.
