Ok so let me start with some corniness, I’m a Detective but have a tundra mystery I can’t solve ! (Cue Drum kick)

so I have a 2016 Tundra SR5 and recently bought OEM LED headlights and fog lights , best upgrade ever !

My mechanic installed them, he’s no bum 40 years of experience and a fellow Tundra operator.

me being the OCD fool I am I decide to check them against my garage door to see if they are level. Low beams are nice and level, flip to high beams and my driver side high beam is higher than my passenger high beam. No idea if that’s normal I can drive the hell out of cars but can’t work on them much.

so I manually adjust the high beams nice and level and the mystery begins

flip back to my lows and now they’re off balance ! Manually adjust my lows to level flip back to high now they’re NOT level. I call headlight revolution show them pics they suspect something wrong with passenger headlight and send me a new OEM replacement.

my mechanic installs it and the same problem still exists?!?

am I just tripping, is this normal or should both my highs and lows be level ? Is my Tundra crooked or am I just dumb be gentle if the latter is the case lol

any fellow tundra captains have pics of their high beams on a wall ? Is some variance normal ? Is my passenger headlight not getting the same power from the wires ? The brightness seems equal on both … could it just be because it’s a 2016 not originally equipped with leds?

why would leveling the low throw off the high and vice versa ?

if it’s normal let me know so I can let it go lol

is it possible my passenger side light just sits lower ? It’s never been crashed and is my baby for sure ☺️

thanks for any wisdom ! The pic is my high beams

Hello, I am in the same boat. 2015 1794, just installed 2018 oem led headlights. Brand new from Sparks parts. Head lights are dead nuts level or even on low beam. High beams driver side is higher. Did the manual adjustment from in truck and they move evenly on low and high beam. I'm gonna assume its "normal" maybe for the driver to be able to see farther? Not sure why they wouldn't both just be the same. But glad to know I'm not the only one in the same boat.

Did you find or get any info back on why?

Typically the driver side aims a little lower because you don't want to blind the oncoming traffic and the passenger side is a little higher (than the driver side) to provide better roadside visibility.

Headlights are adjusted like that from the factory. There are some NHTSA guidelines and requirements.

As long as you have good visibility at night, and not blinding anyone, don't be too much of an OCD. lol

No I gave up lol, I even went to the dealer they had no clue, what I’d like to do is have somebody with a tundra that came with OEM LEDS check theirs to see if the high beams are off too. I feel better knowing it’s not just me lol, I put in two different sets of OEMs with same results so maybe it is normal to light up the drivers view better when using high beams? They still look amazing so I have just accepted it because I’d never go back to the halogens

    None (yet!)
I'll check tonight! I just got a 2020 but haven't even driven it at night yet to have noticed anything like that.

Edit: honestly not even sure if I have LEDs though?

Adjust the low beams so that you aren't blinding traffic and get a pretty level cutoff between the pair. Don't worry about the high beams, they just throw more light down the road for increased distance vision. OK if they don't line up and cutoff the same.

Cool thx !! I think you would have LEDS on a 2020, right now I’ve had two sets of new OEMs do it and Offroad2010 had it too, so maybe it’s just how they are, be good to hear how yours do because I was wondering if it’s like that because the older tundras aren’t designed for LED housings even tho they fit maybe it’s just some little design issue that causes it when adding newer equipment to older trucks

That’s pretty much where I ended up, just saying the hell with it lol, it’s still the best mod I ever did to my tundra

Agreed its one of the best upgrades I've done thus far! So much better than halogens. I'm just glad the low beams line up lol. We just drove a 1300 mile round trip up to Glacier national park and they worked amazing on our drive up there at night. Can't notice the high beam is off so I'm not gonna fuss about it haha.
