I have Echo trimmer, edger, 16” chainsaw and handheld blower. Don’t know for sure, but I think they all must have the same motor. Start the same way, all of them. 2 pulls choked and it pops, take choke off and they start 3rd pull.
They’re ~10 yers old and I’ve never touched them (wood knocking sound) Original spark plugs. Use their little Echo oil bottles and only non-ethanol fuel.

We run a Makita XRU23Z 18V brushless. Love it. So easy to maintain and last a long time on a charge. We switched to a Makita leaf blower too, which we also love.

Depends on your yard size. I only have about 2500 sq feet of grass so electric ryobi 40v is the best for that need. Plenty of power and one battery does entire yard with spare for the blower

I have an echo srm 225 that I got last year from my work that closed. It’s 5 years old and you can buy a tune-up kit for $25 that has an air filter, gas filter, and a plug. Simple kit to install. It’s the easiest trimmer head to replace the line in. It came from a dealer and was the same price as Home Depot. I believe echo has a 5 yr warranty.

If it hasn’t already been said, let me say it again, always make sure that you wear safety glasses or goggles when you’re using a weedeater, a friend of mine had a little rock chip come up and hit him right in the eyeball. It wasn’t a great experience for him I’ll have to say.

Stihl Kombi, which gives you a couple different options for weed eater attachments. Also have the tiller and pole saw attachments, comes in pretty handy at the cabin.

Always, and long pants and normally my mud boots. Those rocks hurt when they hit your shins. This time of year in Texas spray legs with bug spray. When you weedeat you are slinging chiggers. Mud boots help when I hit a fire ant mound. Just can't resist weed wacking one.

I can second this. Was mowing years ago and suddenly I was flat on my back; wondering who ran out from behind a tree and punched me in the eye.

Long story short - lawnmower threw a rock that ricocheted off a tree and hit me hard enough to topple me backwards off the mower. Wife was basically "poor babying me" thinking I was playing it up...until I told her to go f*** herself and I began walking to the neighbor's house (2 miles away) in the middle of a summer day to get THEM to bring me to the ER. (Given I'm a fairly mild-mannered guy and a Christian...soon as I said that she KNEW something was wrong. LOL)

Anyways...supposedly there are like 8 layers to the eye. Rock had cut through 5 of them and scratched the 6th. Had it cut through that layer I'd have required surgery. As it was, I had to have my eye dilated and wore a pirate patch for a week. LOL Now I wear at least sunglasses to mow or weedwack, if not safety glasses.

Just go all in and grab a forestry helmet. I picked one up a few years ago when I had to do a lot of overhead work with a pole saw. Now I use it anytime I’m running the Kombi (pole saw, weed whacking, brush cutting, tilling) or running a chainsaw. Even with the face shield I still wear wraparound sunglasses or goggles because stuff always seems to find a way to ricochet and get behind it. The earmuffs are an added bonus as they help save what’s left of my hearing.
