I just installed this tonight. Picked it up from Crutchfield for the warranty. I've got to say, it looks perfect in the Tundra. Floating screen is rad. The install wasn't too bad, just routing the mic wire thru the headliner, down the A pillar and thru the dash is the time snag. Otherwise it is pretty simple. I got the Maestro harness with it - works great. TPMS and gauges all synced right up. And dammit boys, did it wake up the JBL system! Spend a little time in the EQ, one of the best I have seen in a headunit, and then switch on the MX HD... it's like a whole new truck. I was shocked honestly. Very pleased thus far.

The only downside... CarPlay is wired only.

I wonder if Halo 11 fits into Halo 9 kit?

Not sure. Call Crutchfield? They certainly would know.

Here is my Halo9 installed. Loving it.

damn............ that looks nice, I'm scared to call around, 9 out of 10 times if I call places for car parts I ended up buying something, I sometimes do miss the 12" in my Ram, then I try to justify changing the whole stereo out by calculating adding DSR1 + new sub box + new door speakers, may as well do the HU.

Those newer Ram stock screens are nice for sure. I think the 9 here is the perfect size for the Tundra dash. I wouldn't want the 11 now that I have put the 9 in.

Wow looks like it should have come with the 9” Alpine! Very nice install! Wish I hadn’t seen it installed! Mo money! Crap, looks like its not compatible with the JBL system!

It looks even better now that I have blacked out all the chrome trim with the AJT Designs kit. Need to get new photo! And that was just last weekend I installed this haha. It never ends.

How did you use it with the JBL system. I have a 1794 too. I am also wondering if you noticed a sound difference like clarity and volume? Also have you done anything else to the system?

I got the Maestro harness to connect it and capture all the features. I can't speak to this HU without that harness... but as I have it set up, it works flawlessly. I only swapped in the unit, no change to anything else in JBL system. Clarity and volume MUCH improved. It sounds like it should sound from factory for the "premium" system IMO.

That makes me excited. I wanted a new headunit and couldn’t justify it for just CarPlay. Thanks man !

For those with this HU, what can you access via OBD menu? can you add additional apps to the HU (or via the phone) to have a full display? and does it allow wireless android auto?

i am wondering this too…..I have installed the “regular” ilxf309 and have access to a lot of vehicle features. I can’t get the transmission temp though. My gauges are setup as rpm, outside temp, etc…..and I can access the tire pressure.

I just found out the halo 11 uses same install kit as halo 9, and if I can add Torque Pro to the display, then its a no brainer for me.

I just installed an Alpine Halo9 with Maestro rr in my 2017 tundra and everything worked except tire pressure read out. Lots of searching on the web and really found nothing. replaced harness from the halo and meastro, new OBD plug resets and flashes of the unit and still nothing. I had to bring the truck in for oil and fluid change so I had the dealership check that the TPMS sensors were working and they gave me a print out from their diagnostic machine with tire pressure reading. Called crutchfield, who I bought the unit from, and they had no ideas.

After all that I called maestro support and they listened to my story and quickly said yes we know of this issue, there was an old harness that had a resistor between the main red power wire on the maestro and the obd wire that would make the maestro read TPMS, they found that in some applications this would cause no sensor read outs so they removed it. Support said to put in a 2000k resistor and it would solve my issue. Since their are no more radio shacks in my area I order a 100 pack from Amazon for $5, soldered it inline and put everything in the truck. I did a master reset and turned the truck on and to my very happy surprised the tire pressure popped up.

So there is the answer, $5 resistor and about 30 min or work to make the read out of tire pressure work. Hope this help anyone else who is facing this issue and looking for resolution.

I tried installing the Alpine ILX 309 in my tundra today. I used the wiring diagram found on Maestro's website, I did the flash on the maestro RR module for my tundra truck and the alpine HU. I checked my wires 4 times to make sure everything was wired correctly. When I hooked up the unit, the radio puts out as much sound as a clock radio. What in the heck am I doing wrong?! Mine is the 2020 tundra with the factory JBL system. The radio sounds worse than my stock radio. Please help!

No idea - I have a 2017 so I believe your harness is slightly different.

Hey it’s been a really long time to mess with any stereo crap. Is it still worth messing with the bypass on the Alpine Halo? I don’t really care about the video part but the limited access to menus is a ain’t in the rump.

I didn’t know you could bypass - is that for video access while driving? How would one accomplish this? Asking for a friend

Does this unit allow you to change the vehicle settings like door lock and headlight and interior light changes like the oem unit can ?
