Presently own a 2011 Tundra DC 4.6L 4x4 truck, with 150k miles, and want to replace it with a 3rd Gen Tundra. Not sure whether Hybrid or Gas at this point.

Have been lurking the forums, reading about some of the more concerning problems, drive shaft, transfer case, engine, gas leak, etc, and I believe the Hybrid has several open recalls….

I am undeterred by these things, but just wondering is there a list or summary of what specifically to watch or look out for (or ask about on a used vehicle) when test driving to try and avoid these issues?
    Any guidance appreciated!

Take the vehicle to a dealer or trusted mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection. The best money you can spend.

Thanks, but like from an existing Toyota dealer…. Should I trust they are looking for this stuff?

None that I am aware of.

I had just the usual fuel line and transmission reprogram, nothing more.

The OP posted " , and I believe the Hybrid has several open recalls…."

That was who my post was aimed at.

Ahhhh... the phantom (menace) recalls. I didn't recall the existence of those recalls. :monocle:

sorry I was just basing from reviewing the CarFax on some of the trucks I’ve come across. Appeared that in a couple 23 examples, the Hybrid Limited showed the recalls while the gas SR5 did not.
