    Good Day Tundra Enthusiasts,

I recently traded in my 2023 Tundra TRD Sport, which I was surprised to discover was 2WD, but only AFTER getting it home. Went on a camping trip and spent the entire two weeks worrying about getting stuck in the snow, so when I got home, I traded it in on a 4WD. 4WD was the only requirement; however, after driving a Capstone and a TRD Pro, I went with the Pro for the integrated light bar and dashcam, as well as the overall look and off road capabilities. I did NOT want to worry about getting stuck.

Added a Leer camper shell and, more recently, AirLift airbags to remove the sag when towing (TRD Pro is the best truck to get you there, but not the best to tow your 7,000 pound camper with 1,000 pound hitch weight).

Loving the truck and am just discovering this forum. Looking forward to learning more. Currently looking to add a Pedal Monster.

    Welcome from TX!

How bad was the negative equity rollover in that deal?

Also, have you heard the adage, "4WD just gets you further in before you get stuck"? ;)

A few people have recently posted about either not knowing if their truck was 4wd, or discovering it wasn’t after purchasing but assumed it was. I’m interested in exactly how that happens? If one doesn’t need it and is just buying a truck regardless I guess it didn’t matter to them. If you specifically wanted 4wd, how did they sneak a 2wd past you? Glad you got swapped into a PRO and remedied your situation. Hope it didn’t sting the wallet to bad to do it.

Negative equity was measured in tens of thousands. :( That said, the TRD Pro with the iFORCE MAX is a completely different truck from the 2023 iFORCE. So as much as it bit financially, I’m much happier with this truck.

I have to admit that I really wasn’t paying close attention to all the trucks’ features. It had a lot of other features that I liked, such as the panoramic rear view mirror camera and a hufuckingmongus infotainment system, so I just neglected to look at how to put it in 4WD mode until days later. It had dual purpose tires and a lot of ground clearance, giving the external appearance of being 4WD. It was only when I started looking for the button to switch from 2WD to 4WD it that I realized that there was not one. That was also when I noticed the absence of 4X4 on the external badging. Caveat emptor. Mea culpa.

The hit to the wallet was significant, but the features of the TRD Pro, including the same infotainment system and panoramic camera system, plus the factory light bar and dash cam, plus the numerous drive modes have me much more pleased with the truck, except for the monthly payment.

You pays your money and you takes your chances. #paycloserattentionnexttimedumbass
