Dunno why I never noticed this 2000+ miles ago… seems odd but at same time too consistent to be defect. Is this some sort of anti corrosion coating under the paint?

Many manufacturers use this process, not just Toyota.

No! Terrible finish. Complain to toyota headquarters and everyone at the dealer. Everytime.

So the orange peel paint at the bottom is intentional, hides road debris with better corrosion resistance. You can see it at the bottom of most modern trucks these days

Is this the first vehicle you have ever owned?

Yes, it’s intentional, every Toyota or Honda I have ever had (12 total) this paint protection feature. No big deal, just live with it.

This. Mine is tinted purple on MGM... Dealer didn't care. So I just look at other parts of the truck now.

It is the first TRUCK I’ve owned and no it is NOT on every car.

next time just answer the question. Could care less how many cars you’ve had.

Don’t get your panties in a wad sonny because you see something that is on every Toyota and Honda truck in order to protect the lower panels on your car from road debris damage.

I bet the Toyota service adviser cringes every time he sees you.

Yes, it's normal. No, that doesn't give you license to be a dick to new members.

@GigTundra1976 I recommend you click on his user name and hit the ignore button. He's obviously more interested in harassing you than helping you.

Thanks but I don’t need a button to ignore idiots like Clamdips. Guys that that tout the number of “toyota and honda trucks” they’ve owned obviously have no life outside of this forum.

I appreciate you and all the other helpful responses. Thanks!

I'm just here to make sure the 2nd Tundra (9th Toyota overall, & 5th Toyota "truck") I'm about to buy wasn't messed up in the paint shop. My '06 Tundra didn't have that finish, and neither did my '03 Tacoma, '96 4-Runner, or my '88 4-Runner, so this is a legit question and I appreciate all of the informational responses. @Jjclamdips and the other trolls can head back to Twitter, or Oz, or wherever the goblins live now. If you haven't had to buy a new truck in 15-20 years this will be as new to you as it was to me. Even after weeding through the helpful (and less than helpful) comments to learn that it's "normal," I don't really understand the coating, application process, or why it's effective. If anyone has a link to something good there, please share. I couldn't find much with my Googling - just some references to different types of PPF and "clear bra," but nothing directly referencing what I'm seeing on these newer Tundras.

I'm cool with it, just can't find much about the application process, or how it works online. Happy to see your pic and get your $0.02 though . . . glad it works!
