I've searched multiple threads and can't seem to find anything exactly like this happening. My truck is a 2010 double cab 2WD with the 5.7 and just hit 140k. It starts and runs fine when I go somewhere, but after running about 30 minutes and parking to shop/have dinner/car wash, it won't crank. Doesn't click (that I can here) and doesn't try to turn over the engine. Give it 15 minutes and it cranks and drives like nothing ever happened. I've replaced the battery, starter, starter solenoid, and even the battery cable terminals since one had minor corrosion. It still has the same symptoms. No check engine light, not codes stored or pending, and truck has full electrical power when this happens. I checked the coolant temp when it did this yesterday and it was at 194. Any ideas on where to go next or what else to check?

In case anyone comes across this same issue, the solution was to replace the crankshaft position sensor. $60 part and 5 minutes to replace with a 10mm wrench and a jack.

This issue is back. No clue where to go next. It's definitely heat related. I drove for about 45 minutes, stopped for 5 minutes, then it wouldn't try to crank until the temp gauge was almost all the way to cold (almost 2 hours later). The gauges never got to halfway on the trans or oil temp. Voltages where fine, jump pack didn't make a difference.

20 minute drive, no problems, drove 30 minutes, and it took over an hour to try to crank again. Once it tries to crank, it immediately fires up like nothing is wrong. Coolant temp was just under 170F and IAT was around 145F when it wouldn't crank. No codes, nothing on my OBDII scanner indicated any issues at all. I'm about to sell this truck if I can't figure this out soon.

Bad starter? Did you check your NSS?

Starter replaced with new OEM unit at time of original post. No change after it was installed. What's the NSS?

So after a 30+ min drive, if you make a short stop, like just a few minutes for a bathroom break or something, does it start ok then? Is it only a problem after sitting for a while?

When you think it is likely to happen, Stand at back near exhaust while someone else tries to start it hot and see if exhaust smells like raw gas. That would make me think injector leak which floods cylinders when trying to start.

Today it decided to do this after only a 10 minute drive and a 45 minute appointment. Took 2 hours from when I originally parked to even try to crank again. Tried in Park and Neutral several times. Gear selection shows up correctly on the gauge cluster. As soon as it tried to crank, it fired up immediately and ran perfectly normal. Drove the same 10 minute drive home, and couldn't get it to replicate the problem (tried cranking every 15 minutes for an hour and it fired up first try every time. I'm at a complete loss and ready to sell this thing.

Is this a flex fuel engine or regular gas 5.7? If it's flex fuel, look up flex fuel no start hard start, and the procedure to reset the alcohol percentage.

There's also a common issue with the fuel control module behind the tank. It's kind of exposed to the elements. There's a video on you tune somewhere where it's a no start and as the guy is trouble shooting the wiring he happens to reseat the pins and it fires up. These tundra is designed to only run the fuel pump after it cranks where as most vehicles you can hear the pump running with the key in the accessory position. I would think that your fuel control module is getting hot and giving you a non start.
