Picture is of when wheel turns. Any ideas origin and if this is cheap fix I can do on my own?

You need a new steering rack. Like yesterday. Here's one https://autoparts.worldtoyota.com/products/product/reman-rack-pinion-steering-gear-442500602384 and here's some on Rock Auto https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/toyota,2003,tundra,4.7l+v8,1418475,steering,rack+and+pinion,7388. It's generally recommended to use OEM, but if you're trying to save some money, and you don't mind maybe doing it again you could go other brands. There are in depth videos out there for this repair. Not terribly hard if you have some mechanical inclination.

That rust make me wonder if somebody who didn't know any better may've used the wrong fluid. Power steering for this truck should be ATF. That amount of corrosion makes me think someone put brake fluid in the rez, or something else highly hygroscopic & corrosive. Either way, rack replacement is in your future. Also, new rack bushings b/c those are shot to hell. Should drive like a new truck after.
