Bought this Long Bed last September w 37k miles on it and it now has 57k miles. I started it this AM and noticed a puff of white smoke come out the tail pipe so I checked the oil and it appears low and there appears to be oil near manifold inside the passenger side front wheel well. Red circle is where I dabbed a piece of paper towel on a stick to collect oil evidence. I bought an extended warranty with it and hope it covers the fix.

What repairs do you guys think I am looking at? Think it’s covered by manufacturer warranty or extended warranty? I’m pretty bummed cuz this was a retirement gift to myself and am deeply in love with it! Lol. I didn’t expect to have any issues with it for a long time…& if it wasn’t for that puff of smoke I would have drove it til it’s next scheduled oil change at 60k and could have ran her dry. I had Toyota change the oil not too long ago and it should not be low. I heard bout the cam tower issue leak but not sure if that’s is where it’s coming from and not sure if Toyota is covering that fix.

    btw…Happy Friggen Easter!! Ugh

    I have a 2014 with 110K miles.
I'm no mechanic, but here is the video Toyota provided to me on my last maintenance a few weeks ago.
It is the tower cam leak.
I'm dropping it off tomorrow for repair, the quoted me $5K.

As far as your warranty coverage, it depends on the warranty.

    Good luck..

Perhaps your warranty will cover it..
Your leak may be something else..
I bought a 7-year/ 75K mile extended warranty for this truck when I bought it new.
    Never had to use it..

For me $5K is cheaper than a new one.
I love my truck and plan to keep it for another 150K miles..
Fortunately, I have the savings to get it fixed..

Check your oil more often. Cam Towers don’t leak that much the ones I’ve seen. Toyota not going to do anything. Check with the insurance you bought. Definitely make a claim.

If my 2020 ever leaks I’m switching to 15W40 Delvac oil and sending it.

Toyota tech completed their inspection. He sent me a video of the inspection and did not notice any oil anywhere. I emailed him back and provided details exactly where I saw it….w photos of paper towel dabbed w oil…& they sent me the below reply….sounds like I need a second opinion cuz no truck should be “sweating” oil

This may be an unpopular opinion but I really wouldn’t worry about. A little oil leak between friends isn’t going to hurt anything. Ever owned a British car or a Subaru? “If there’s no oil under it, there’s no oil in it.”
