I've got that on my list of next-to-do. Probably do my front brakes while at it. I need to do a brake flush also. I need to swap out my rear driver ATS leaf too. I'm sure there's more, but this is on my list for next week when the kids are back in school.

 

Don't know yet. I'll tell you later after I drive her. Work started so I didn't get a test drive in. I can say that the doors close tight whereas before they rattled, so there's that.

Front brakes are on my list as well. I've had the Z71 upgrade sitting in a couple boxes for 4-5 months, time to do it. Probably do a transmission flush, too (drain & fill version).

What's wrong with the ATS leaf??

 

Weird clunk/pop. ATS guys were stumped about it, I texted over several videos of it popping (their support guys were great), and b/c they had no answer for why, after trying several recommendations from their side, they sent a new leaf.

I don't think the clunking is detrimental per se, and I'll need to buy U-bolts now b/c they didn't send a u-bolt, but I didn't pay a penny, and will have a spring to give away or cannibalize later.

 

So while I was getting the crank pulley bolt torqued, one of the m8 bolts for my holder tool snapped (that's what I get for making my own tools). Long story short the only way to get that helper bolt out is to remove the pulley which I would rather not do. It's only maybe 5-7 threads worth of bolt. Do you guys think having this slightly asymmetric weight on the pulley will effect how the engine runs and/or damage the crank, or can I just call it good and worry about it the next timing belt change?

 

Do you not have room to drill and easy-out the bit there? Or is it a hardened steel fastener? I'd just drill the fucker if not. No access to twist the shank from the rear?

 

Yup drill bit snapped as I was attempting just that. So yes, it is now hardened steel.

 

Dang, that sucks. At least they were cool about it, great customer service helps swallow bitter pills... sometimes.

 

I wonder if you could weld a nut on and crank it out that way.

 

Meh. Swapping out the spring as-is should be a bolt-up affair, it's just 60 minutes of my day I'd rather not have to go thru again.

But hey, maybe @FirstGenVol will want this spring, so he's only in for ~$200 and some U-bolts to have a complete rear lift.

Watch, I'll swap it out and the new one will have that one little crick sound too, because it's somehow related to geometry or something. It's only one small clunk sound when it goes up, and one when it comes down. It's not super loud. But once I hear it, I can't unhear it.

 

Me and Casey did an experiment with a bastard pack that had one extra leaf between the main leaf and the second leaf iirc, plus the icon AAL. I think Casey might try it out on the truck in a few years

 

Installed URD cam gears to retard the exhaust 3 degrees this weekend. I've been pleased with the effects. Gained some power above 2.5k without losing any low end and supposedly I will see a bump in mpgs. The weirdest change is that it coasts so much better. Before I would let off the gas and it felt like the truck hit a wall but now it just coasts and coasts.
Also grabbed a new throttle body gasket and intake manifold gasket from Toyota. Reused the valve cover gaskets seen as they're 18 months old or so.

 

No idea what that is but it looks cool!

What are you selling? Leak packs? I would probably go with Archive Garage when I'm ready.

 

Also a good idea. Idk if it's my welding skills (probably) or what but I couldn't get that to work either. I ended up just removing the pulley again so I could get a hold of the threads from the other side.

I'm staying NA for the foreseeable future. You know, i'm still relatively poor and its my only vehicle so I don't need to give it more things to break.
A .5 inch manifold spacer has caught my eye but not sold on it.

Yeah, LTs are in my future I think. I'm thinking a nice pair of JBA or Doug Thorley. URD was making equal length headers for the 1gr that were nice but then I guess he started having emissions problems and he quit making them.
I'm also in the process of getting either VF Tuner or HPTuners to unlock the ECU for 4.0 Tundy so I can get to tuning. Maybe one day I can get one of them to agree
