Drivers side grab handle UPDATE!!

Received my response overnight...

$148.14 to SoCal

 

So my order went from total $95.29 to $159.77, they changed the shipping from UPS to FedEx.
Did a quick parts . toyota search and the combo set would be $204.08, pre tax, so about $220 total (shipping should be free)
Oversea still beats it by about $60. I just wish there are more Tundras in our junk yards....sigh, decisions decisions.....



Granted, US Toyota website is charging more than this just for the garnish piece.
(After selection dealership, most will drop some, for Houston TX area, $141.87, a tad lower than above, but still just one piece)

 

Here it goes guys, go the Fred Anderson online parts route for $150. That's what I did.

 

Did you have a discount coupon/code? I'm getting a total of $192.37. Perhaps the 25% off all parts promotion has ended?

 

To be honest I have no idea but I know I didn't put in any discount coupon. I only added the Valve Stem Caps to be over $200 and get the free shipping but I think they had a sale at that time and when I checked out and go to the payment I noticed the 25% discount? Try and see what happens? Better yet call the Fred guys and ask them about the 25%? You never know

 

Putting this dealer on my list to visit when they do the 20% off parts, since this is not a must have now parts, I can wait.
Granted, at $150-ish then the Japanese site would lose it's appeal. Though, if you need it fast and don't want to pay the dealer price here, that's still an option for some.
I will wait....
Oh, while we are at it, anyone got a part number for the TRD radiator cap? might need it to just top the order to $200 to get free shipping.

I got an update email today they are checking availability and will let me know.

 

Got an email this morning part of my order can’t be shipped at all.
Only the grab handle portion and they wanted $50 for shipping on top of the $29.48 for the part.

It’s really weird how everyone is getting such different responses.

I may try again in a couple weeks

 

Around $200 is not bad at all, especially shipped from Japan. I've got my kit from sparksparts in 2021 for $187 total.

 

I found it yesterday at a Toyota dealership (can't remember which one, and I've closed the tab) for $185. I don't think that included shipping. Just Googled for "Toyota parts discounts." I do remember that the Site did not look like the typical Toyota Parts Websites, but it did seem a legit dealership.

 

They emailed me this morning and said the garnish is out of stock now and they canceled that part of the order. So I’ve asked them to cancel the entire order since one item is useless without the other.

 

I received the same message from them. I asked them to cancel it but, haven’t heard back. It’s not a bad price for the handle but, I can get it much faster somewhere else at a similar price. Mine shows a May-July delivery time.

 

You should be able to go into your order and cancel them yourself.
I just cancelled mine though no indication whether it is in stock or out of stock.
It's one of those parts that is nice to have but am in no hurry.
I will wait for US domestic sale and pull the trigger then if not junk yard before that.

 

I think once it goes to the supplier, the option to self-cancel is gone. At least, I don't see it anywhere on the website when I go into my order.

Well that's the risk for going with unverified vendors I guess. Thanks for paving the path for the rest of us. I personally had a bad feeling about this vendor and I backed out after their crazy shipping charges. Is all very inconsistent.

 

My only real irk with them is that they supposedly checked with the supplier to check stock before placing the order. That's their listed process and why you submit an order first and then pay later. So, either they fouled up or their supplier fouled up.

Either way. It happens. As long as they can cancel this order, I'm still fine. I'll just keep an eye on parts.toyota.com and cross shop several regional dealerships on that site to see who has the lowest pricing, as I usually do. I'll also keep an eye on the carparts.com, but I haven't had the best of luck with them in the past.

 

Perhaps my "order" is screwing with stock status? I took it as only me making an inquiry until a total price, delivered, was agreed upon. Since they jacked their initial quote over $130, and I responded via email that such was unreasonable, I've not done a thing. What's to cancel, a firm quote?

Just an FYI, the price that @JohnWhicker is common for Toyota. Matter of fact ALL dealer, that I am aware of do it at the same time. I went to the dealer he posted and no 25%, only 10%, same as my dealer. Another FYI. Your local dealers parts website is usually going to be autoparts.(dealer name Toyota).com. For mine it autoparts.southdadetoyota.com. The dealer he posted is autoparts.fredandersontoyota.com. Always good to be on the look out for these 25% deals they run every now and then.

 

Well, my email to Amayama had a positive, for me, impact. My handle still won't arrive until late May to July, but they dropped the shipping charges significantly. $117.37 total, delivered.

 

Is this part the same for 2007-2013 as for 2014-2021? Trying to see about salvage options.

 

For the driver's side handle, there isn't a part number for 2014-2021, as Toyota did not manufacture them for those years, but, yes, the part numbers for 2007 - 2013 will fit 2014-2021. As to tail lights, Toyota changed the design starting in 2014; I doubt 2007-2013 will fit, not even close.

 

I think that's "normal". My '16 has only 1 bolt on the top... that's why you need to source the U bracket/nut thing for the bottom bolt.

 

Yeah I had the 1 bolt on the top. I had already got the extra hardware. It was just strange that I had that plastic piece on the bottom where as all the videos I've watched don't have anything holding it in place on the bottom.

 

I have an extra bolt and 19 U brackets I bought from Amazon in a 20 pack. I will mail to anyone who needs them
