    MAKE CERTAIN YOU HAVE MORE THAN 40 MILES OF GAS STILL LEFT IN YOUR TANK BEFORE CHANGING THE BATTERY!
    The computer will refuse to start the car because it will "THINK FALSELY" that the truck is TOTALLY OUT OF GAS!
    Thankfully, there remains a very small amount in reserve so if you continue to turn the ignition it will eventually start as long as there is a gas station VERY CLOSE BY!
    I hope this helps some of you and that you will REMEMBER to put just a little gasoline into your tank BEFORE you replace your truck battery.

    Well that’s a new one. It’s normal after replacement of the battery for the truck to start, then die. Restarting afterward it should idle. This is caused by the ecm relearning the throttle idle position due to carbon build up.

    The pump has a computer controlling it, but I’ve never seen low fuel cause the pump to not run. Odd. Fuel pump only runs when it sees engine RPM. So they don’t prime like domestic vehicles do. Pump only runs once the starter starts spinning

    In over six years of ownership I have never allowed my tank to get anywhere near that low. Most I have filled it (38 gallon tank) is 32 gallons meaning I had 6 gallons (about 100 miles) left.

    How would you know, you've never been in the OP's situation?
    @NewImprovedRon wasn't quoting your post..:rolleyes:

    I've had my battery disconnected and/or replaced more times than I'd like to remember on my 2014.
    Multiple levels of fuel I'm sure.
    As previously stated, it would turn and die on the first key turn, but always stated after that.
    There may be something else wrong with @ApoRam's truck..

    Besides that, his 2019 has a multiple-gallon reserve when on empty, all Gen 2.5 tundras do.

    Fact from me buying my truck with 4 miles on it and now showing 88,000. Being the only driver 99% on those miles. I thought my comment was clear enough.

    Is it possible that there is a miscommunication going on? I rarely ever let my Tundra's gas level get low enough for the light to come on. When I drove to Alaska in my 09 Taco...I miscalculated on where I could fuel up. I was on fumes when I got to Contact Creek. Tiny gas station. Tiny snacks. Filled up which was equivalent to $6.50 a gallon. Late November 2011. Got a freebie calendar which I still have. My Frontier has never seen a low fuel light. Yet....ha!

    Pretty sure their statements were directed at the original post, not at yours.

    To be specific, this was the post that I was referring to when I said
    I have had my battery disconnected a number of times while doing electrical work and it always dies on the first restart when the battery is reconnected regardless of the fuel level.
