As a single man with no kids you should go for that tenere, you won't regret it. It's a go anywhere machine. My one regret sale of all my bikes was the ktm 690 enduro. I'd trailer it to mex in the winters for a break from the snow and came back smiling every time.

I plan to get one, just want to pay off the truck first.

 

I was so torn between the 690 and t7, but in the end I am a sucker for perceived reliability and went Yamaha.

I'm a Japanese bike guy. I value the reliability and the long maintenance intervals way more than performance that I'll never use.

there is no denying KTM is moving the industry forward in in a good way but I just cannot bring myself to jump on the band wagon, seems like every bike I see these days is orange.

I had 58,000 on my 04 950 when I sold it last summer. 21,000 on the 17 690. I know the whole Japanese is reliable idea, but orange is so common because orange is race ready, and reliable as well. Like any machine, proper maintenance prevails. I think ktm also soared when they took over husky. If I buy a new bike it'll be the husky te300. But damn that price tag smarts. But I also love orange look aid. I've been drinking it for decades.

KTM is certainly moving, but with them exporting manufacturing to china their reliability (already questionable) isn't likely to improve. It's a bummer because I like their crazy design language, but I value simple and reliable over the raw performance and gizmos.

I'd never fault anyone for buying one though.
