Hey y'all, the name is Cody, i live in Calgary and purchased a 2006 tundra double cab this year after my 1992 6bt swapped Landcruiser got t-boned, flipped and written off...

It was a fun ride, super duty D60 and 14b rear axle, 1st gen cummins with NV4500, and Yoyota full time t-case, running on airbags and 40" tires in the summer and 42" studded iroks in the winter (beadlocks). There is a thread on ih8mud about it title'd: "the one ton swap thread" in the 80 series section.

Anyways, picked up a low-ish mileage 2006 tundra in Omaha and brought it home this year. have done some basic maintenance including (aisin or denso) timing belt spark plugs, air filter, serpentine, bosch brakes, and put in a aluminum dry box with a 2500lb quad winch in it for retrieving elk/moose.

Also working on retractable fog lights, which I have wired up in the center console, modded the skid plate and will hopefully be installing this weekend.

Anyways, stoked to download some wiring diagrams etc off the site and be a contributing member to the forum/community.

    Cody.

    Thanks Kelly & Jim!

on the hunt now for threads and more info on LBJ failures and potential mods for improving what seems to be the Achilles heel of the 1st Gen if anyone knows of some links!

Welcome aboard. Your 2006 has the upgraded LBJ design, which unfortunately is beefier, but prone to the same failures. The “fix” is to get rid of the original IFS setup. Maybe some long travel kits have a different LBJ design. Solid axle swap would certainly eliminate it.

I think I'm going to use the intro thread as a bit of a build inventory (update pictures later).

So after I got the Tundra back from a very long drive (Omaha to Calgary) I left it for a couple weeks and then got into it with some OEM (Aisin etc) parts

    Timing belt
    Serpentine belt
    Water pump
    spark plugs
    air filter.

The exhaust needed a fix as the stock pipe was rotted. Look how pinched the stock pipe is where the two pipes connect (new is 2.5" to 3" stainless from cats)

Went with the biggest 3" muffler for diminished noise.

Next step was dealing with my paranoia about catalytic converters disappearing at night, created a CAD file and bent some aluminum

Also added a dry box with a quad winch for pulling in wild game, always wanted to do this

I've update the aged stereo with new and some speakers and deadening, and found a deal on some used Raptor shocks for projects on this in the future

Hey, just signed on. I'm from the PNW and have had my 05 Tundra for a year now. Haven't done much other than throw a Softopper on it and build a bed in the back for camping. Before my family started growing I did a fair amount of rockcrawling/Jeeping but currently do just light touring/overlanding. I found the forum when looking to upgrade my foglights.

Hey Josh, welcome to the forum!

You should post your own intro thread and some pictures of your truck as well.

Did you find the forum with the foglight video i had posted on youtube?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sH0pdkaEA9w

I still have to mount the second one
