I had a ARE canopy added to my 2024 Hybrid after I already installed the Toyota app which I found very useful if not entertaining. However, after the canopy install by app now thinks the truck is a Sequoia and does to acknowledge the tailgate. The only electrical install on the Cap was a light which they supplied power by a wire in the bundle under the after right passenger door sill. Complaining to the installer they removed the wire from the bundle but no change in my app. I deleted the Tundra from the app and installed it again afresh. Same thing. Under 'Remote' on the app it acknowledges my Tundra. Select 'Status' and you get the Sequoia. Anyone else run into this problem yet.

Is the picture in the app a Sequoia? I’d imagine the app goes by your vehicles vin number to establish the model of your vehicle .

I don’t think it can tell the layout of your vehicle has changed… may be coincidental…

When I had my Leer cap installed, the dealer discouraged me from having a 12 volt cargo light in the cap. He pushed me toward a battery operated one. After having the cap a while, I was dissatisfied with battery light. I decided to install a 12 volt LED, and grabbed my power from the running lights on the driver's side, as well as power for the brake light. I eliminated the dealer's wiring harness/plug that they used to supply power to the brake light on the cap. I wasn't as smart as I thought. My 12 volt light works well, however, the brake light on the cap blinks when the left directional is on, as I should have known it would, since I grabbed my power from the wire that supplies power to brake and directional on the driver's side. The dealer's harness/plug apparently sorts that out. I am living wih it. I am just wondering if whatever wiring your cap installer did, is confusing your truck, and thus your app?

In registering on the Toyota App the VIN number was required and it loaded in my Tundra exactly. The first month I used the app the 'Remote', 'Status' and 'Health' functions all worked and displayed the Tundra accurately in body style and color. After installing the ARE cap the 'Status' now displays a Sequoia and the tail gate disposition does not work. I returned to the ARE dealer and they isolated the canopy from the truck electrical system but to no avail. Yes, I think somehow the on the install when they powered the cap lighting from the trucks electrical system it corrupted something in the truck. The dealer said they would not leave me high and dry on this so am on my way back to have them look at it. I am also attempting to obtain the cap install instructions so I can get a better understanding of what they did. I love the cap and having my digital rear view mirror camera installed on the rear of the cap. Hope that presents no problems.
