WHAT HAPPENED WITH MY 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA SR5. THE CLOCK STAYS ON AND PARKING REVERSE LIGHT ON WHILE IN DRIVE?? WHY!!??
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED HOW I FIXED IT.>> I REMOVED THE OLD CD CASETTE PLAYER TO INSTALL A NEW BASIC CD PLAYER. THAT RADIO DID NOT INSTALL WELL AT ALL I SENT IT BACK PERIOD. NOW WHEN I PLUGGED THAT LITTLE TWO WIRE PLASTIC PLUG POWER CORD BACK INTO THE OLD RADIO WAS ALREADY DAMAGED SHIRTED OUT CRACKED>>>> UH OH THE CLOCK STAYED ON THE ELECTRICAL POWER SOCKETS STAYED ON THE LETTER P AND D WAS ON WOULDNT GO OUT. I UN PLUGGED THE OLD RADIO AND EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL . MORAL OF THE STORY FOLKS>> NEW DEVICES ALARMS RADIOS AND SO FORTH DO NOT MATE UP WELL WITH A 19 1/2 YEAR OLD TRUCK> DONT DO IT YOULL RUN OUT THE BATTERY AND SCREW UP SOME WIRING. I DAMAGED THAT LITTLE TWO WIRE PLUG POWER PLUG IN THE BACK BUT THATS WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM PLEASE LISTEN TO ME STICK WITH THE FACTORY RADIO AND IF YOUR GOING TO CHANGE IT OUT GO TO A PROFESSIONAL THIS IS NOT SOMETHING DIY YOUR SELF!! YOU RUN THE RISK OF FRYING SOME WIRES AND MINIMUM RUIN YOUR BATTERY NOT WORTH IT>> DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOU SUFFER IN TROUBLE SHOOTING ELECTRICAL ISSUES!! HOPE THIS HELPS WHEN CONSIDERING A NEW RADIO IN 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA>> I AM PUTTING IN BYPASS FOR THE SECONDARY AIR PUMP AND IM TERRIFIED WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN WITH THAT HEWITT KIT BUT IM TIRED OF DRIVING IN LIMP MODE. PS I HAD A VIPER ALARM INSTALLED BY PROFESSIONALS AND THAT HAD A MYRIAD OF PROBLEMS BUT FINALLY THEY GOT IT SQUARED AWAY BUT STILL HAS SOME MINOR FLAWS BLUE LIGHT COMES ON DURING DRIVING BUT IF YOU CLICK THE ALARM UN LOCK IT GOES OUT MY TUNDRA HAS 250 K AND THIS IS THE FIRST ISSUES I HAVE HAD WITH IT SMOG PUMP AND RADIO ISSUE.

Hey elwwod, appreciate sharing your experience. Truck still has the factory stereo. There's no aftermarket electronics.

    radio
those plastic plugs in the old radio have to be very very carefully removed pre lubricate>> because the pins in them are very fine and those plugs had been in their for 19 1/2 years>/ this is what caused the electrical problems// in my tundra the radio harness is part of the ignition system and i had to get a needle and straighten the pins out now everything is okay.> this is what caused the p and d on dash to stay on as well as the clock after the ignition was shut off> i damaged bent the pins>>in the plug trying to put in new cd / radio hope this helps> dont want to see anyone suffer with this electrical problem in 2006 toyota tundra sr5 extra cab 4 x4 / 4.7 liter. hope this helps anyone with same electrical issues putting in new cd radio player. If you change the oil and fluids and ziebart the frame yearly you'll have a friend for life!!
