    My front end has started to sag so much that I am getting rubbing again just making normal turns on pavement. I’ve blown 1 shock and the other is leaking. It seems the 3" TRD lift is not designed to handle rugged offroad use and/or 250lbs up front with armor and a winch. It may be more suited for on road looks.

    How do I correct this? Do I need to upgrade springs? Just replace shocks? Are there any that would be better for my use case and the front end weight?

    I don’t care about ride quality whatsoever, but I don't want to be so stiff that it causes other problems.

    Those shocks are for lighter duty use than what you’re doing. I would even say what most people do is “use” while you are more “abuse”. The giant tires and heavy bumper definitely didn’t help. Need some quality 2.5” or so coilovers. None of this 2.0 stuff. Also some heavier duty springs. Not sure what the going rate on 22+ is but previous gen’s would upgrade from 650 to 700# springs if carrying winches and armor.

    I went hunting in NM years ago on a very very large private ranch. My guide had a late first gen Tundra that we road around in, he said he would only get 4-6 months out of a set of shocks. Were talking super rugged country, crawling over rocks, logs, open terrain. Going places that some people wouldn't take a SxS.

    That being said, if you are doing the same kind of off-roading, I don't think you can expect long life, even with 2.5inch shocks.

    You definitely need 2.5" with RRs or even 3" shocks, with your use case. Heaviest springs I've seen are the 440 lbs (220lbs x 2) from Dobinsons P/N C59-840. But, I'm sure there are others out there. You might ping the @AccuTune Offroad guys to see what custom coilover combo they can offer. A custom tuned setup that offers a rebuildable shock is going to be the best route for you.

    Edit: Buy 2 sets of front shocks for the springs so you have one set in service while the other is getting rebuilt. Seriously. It would offer you a scenario with no downtime because it generally takes a few weeks for the rebuild...depending on the mfg and if you have to ship them or not.

    ADS Racing makes good shit that will last, you can order the coil over spring rate best suited for your setup. Pricey stuff though.

    Can’t believe ppl pay top dollar for the TRD lift with them 2” shocks for a full size truck. I wouldn’t even put 2” shocks on a Tacoma

    Thanks! We have Fox and King shocks for the 22+ Tundra's working really well.

    @Eurodriver
    You really don't care about ride quality?

    With 250 LB of added weight up front, you could certainly benefit from a heavier rate spring to carry the weight and custom tuning to control that weight. If you're interested in looking at Fox or King upgrades, we could certainly get you dialed in and enjoying that new truck again. Let us know if we can help

    Lots of stuff!
    I think you need to send me that front bumper and I will send you my plastic crap that weighs 2 lbs. :)

    And then more bacon in the back to level out the rig!

    No problem, happy to provide some suggestions. Just a brief run down of what we do... we sell Fox and King shocks to customers looking for the best ride quality possible. Once we know what vehicle it is, how much it weighs and understand how the vehicle will be used most often, we will calculate spring rates and new valving to go along with. Before we ship out the shocks, we disassemble the shocks and replace the valving (sometimes pistons & springs) to provide the best ride quality possible for your application. In your case, I think this is exactly what you want. [HERE] are examples of a front and rear shock package we offer for 22+ Tundras. Fox & King have a few options based on your budget and performance needs. If you are in a high corrosion area, I would lean towards the Fox options. They will hold up better over time. We do not charge extra for tuning, ship for free and have a few other great values to offer.

    If this is a route you're interested in learning more about, let me know and I we can get you in touch with our sales team and they can run through some options based on the amount of weight added. Let us know if we can continue to help out!
