So I test drove a beautiful 1794 2019 Tundra. Almost bought it right there but there were a couple others I am looking at test driving yet. And I am hoping for a Sequoia unicorn to drop out of the sky in the area I live with all things I want on it. Anyway, curious if anyone else has some opinion on this or some data on dimensions.

I hopped back in my 2008 DC 4X4 and realized why I love my truck so much after all these years of memories. I can smell the new truck smell as if it were yesterday.

Now some things I noticed but could be just that I am so used to my 08. It seemed smaller in many ways. Just didn't feel to be as big. Seats were about the same in fit. The dash in the '19 seemed smaller more compact not as pronounced. The width seemed a tad skinnier. Maybe its just me but there were notable difference as I drove home. I smiled. I felt reassured after all these years that I made one the better vehicle decisions I could make.

So now the questions is as much as I like the updated tech and the lower miles on the 2019 (I have 235K on my 08) but had me thinking perhaps I should find one that retains the 08 size and feel in the cab? I believe 2014 is the last year of the 2nd gen before the changed to a 2.5?

2013 is the last year before the update in 2014. Cab sizes are the same but the feel is real. The layout really opens up the space. Just keep yours if you’re thinking of moving to a 2013. Yours will probably last forever.

Thanks for chimmin' in. My 08 just felt bigger, heavier, just beefier on my ride home. Almost as if they made the 19's lighter. Keeping the 08 but looking for another one or a Sequoia as I am going to hand my truck down to my son next year.

Thinking maybe I should look into a 3/4 ton or 1 ton to get that same big truck feel?

My 2010 felt no different than my 2017 to me. I did appreciate the styling changes inside and out, the factory backup camera, and the 38 gallon fuel tank on the 17. The differences you describe feeling may be as simple as the way the seating position was set on the 19 vs your 08. Mechanically the trucks are virtually identical aside from perhaps a different transfer case which you would not notice. Just my .02 having owned both.

Ok new question. I have narrowed down my search for my next Tundra. Would like to get any thoughts on the options.
    1. 2019 1794 Edition 4X4 with 44K miles listed at 40K
    2. 2021 1794 Edition 4X4 TRD Off Road with 33K miles listed at 49K

One other interesting tidbit. When I test drove the 2021 I didn't noticed it had a small dent in the passenger side back door. I went in to speak with the sales person a bit and when I came back out I noticed it. Then I saw them move the vehicle next to it. Hmmm. So not sure because of the time of day with the sun that it wasn't there before. I didn't accuse anyone but did say - hey there is a ding in the door. They said they had a dent specialist that would take care of it.

Interesting, I just went from a 1st gen (2000) Access Cab to a 2019 Crewmax and the '19 seems HUGE!

Main differences between '19 & '21 are gonna' be tech related I think. Push button start, Apple Carplay, etc.

Main differences between TRD Off Road and non is shocks and skid plates, and the super bitchen decal on the bed.

This decal is known to add 10 HP and drop panties on sight. Up to you if any or all of that is worth $9K
