Ordered a Sony 9500ES install bundle from Trail Grid. Quick shipping and install was super simple.

All the features work except there's no sound. I've played with the settings to check to make sure nothing is muted or turned off.

I did email TG yesterday who said check all the connections on both the truck and Maestro RR module.

Unplugged and replugged. Checked the fuses, Everything looks good. Still no sound.

Truck is a 2017 Platinum with JBL System.

I'm wondering if the unit isn't powering the factory amplifier? My buddy said he didn't think any head unit would work with the factory amp.

Is this something anyone else has run into?

Some head units have a specific screw or trim piece that has to be installed in order to work. Have you made sure there wasn’t something like that in manual?

If you can not get it to work I would try this.
    Start over from the beginning.

    test the headunit

    1. Take the headunit out of the truck
    Unplug the idatalink
Get the Sony on a table , get a separate battery and power the headunit up.
Just run a single ground wire to black and a positive wire to the yellow battery and red acc power. Just the basics to get the unit to power on.

Get a cheap $20 pair of speakers if you do not have a set and test for sound. Hook up the speakers to each output speaker leads to test for function.
Fade. Balance. Volume output etc. all functions of the Sony, Android auto. CarPlay etc.

to test the rca output and remote turn on lead
Get a cheap amplifier if you do not have one. $49 ignite 2 channel on Amazon. Hook up the rca outputs and see if you are getting power from the remote turn on lead and signal from the rca outputs.

Once You know everything is working correctly and have no issues with the Sony on the test bench with no idatalink hooked up
put it back in the truck.

If it is not working when mounted in the truck it is in the wiring somewhere. Or the idatalink is bad. I did have a idatalink maestro RR I had to send back once.

Reset the Maestro twice, no luck.

It's showing this in the system settings.

Am I missing a firm wear update? I'm unable to toggle anything.

If you are certain that everything works on the sony

Go watch some videos with 5 star car stereo on youtube

They talk about a sequence that the idatalink needs to be hooked up

They mentioned to plug in the idatalink last after everything else in the headunit was powered up

Idatalink has good customer service. They can troubleshoot with you also

Did you pull out the sony and start from scratch

Unless you know 100 percent certain that it is working correctly you may be chasing

It's been out a few times.

TG suggested resetting the Maestro RR Module using this video guide.

    https://youtu.be/krWpmmkBBpI?si=mi9dRhU4tateWNkD

Did that a few times as well as resetting the Sony to factory settings. TG also sent me a new harness incase something wasn't assembled correctly.

Everything plugs in, everything works, except I get no sound. Checked all the settings, ensured Mute cycled. Nothing. AMP is not firing up. AMP and sound system work fine with the factory head unit, which has gone back in several times now.

I'm guessing it's something faulty with the Masetro RR. As above, it continues to show in the menu "amp detected, not retained, N/A" and in another screen shows AMP inputs as OFF and I'm unable toggle on.

I've reached back out to TG and I'll reach out to Maestro. I'm thinking the unit needs reflashed via laptop.

Caught CS at MAESTRO, they ran the serial and the unit had been flashed for NON-JBL. Sent me a link with a video, followed it, flashed JBL and it works flawlessly.

Curious if you've had any problems since. I've got the same head unit in my 07 premium JBL and I'm having intermittent problems. Occasionally, when I get in and drive, the audio never starts up, or starts up several minutes after I've been driving. Same as you, doesn't matter what source I'm using. Oddly, I had a similar issue with the Pioneer head unit it's replacing.

BIG DIFFERENCE was the Pioneer only did it once every 6 months or so. I could shut off the truck for about 15 seconds, restart it, and the problem wouldn't happen again for several months. The Sony has done it several times in the last week alone. I'm using the exact same Maestro RR unit that I had been using and it was correctly flashed for both head units. Seems to be triggered whenever an audio overlap might occur before it's fully booted up. Example is if I bring up Waze and select a destination before Spotify has started playing music. And to be clear, sometimes I'm just getting in to go somewhere, not doing anything with my phone, and there's no audio, or it comes on several minutes into my drive out of nowhere.

Had zero problems doing similar demands when it was first installed. Still well within the 60 day test drive with Crutchfield and really don't know what to think. Is it my Sony? My Maestro? All of the wiring is soldered and environmentally sealed with MILSPEC hardware. Just redid the other soldering while swapping the wiring. Have installed dozens of stereos over several decades without any issue. Not saying I'm infallible, but I'm great at the wiring aspect if nothing else.

A cheap and easy way to tell if is the maestro or the Sony

Call crutchfield Get the Crux harness and install it If the issues go away it is the maestro
If still having issues could be the Sony

I have used the maestro and the crux units. I had issues with the idatalink in my tundra. So I went with the crux

But I have the idatalink in my sons camaro and my daughters vw bug and have had no issues with them.

I also wonder if the factory amplifier in the jbl systemis starting to have issues if you are still using the factory amp and speakers
