Our neighbor feeds our dog treats. I don’t get all worked up over it. To me I think it’s great our dog has someone else kinda looking out for it. Our dog is a blue heeler, helps work the cattle, & is not friendly with most other people. If I take that treat away from the dog then the dog will probably get sad & not understand. Our neighbor does not come out & move cattle for us, so the dog ignoring the commands is not an issue due possible interference. Our neighbor is just being friendly & she can’t have a dog due to some allergy issues in her house.
By accident I found out every morning when the dog goes out, he was running over to the neighbor’s house to join the wife during her morning coffee. It started during the summer when she would sit on her back deck & enjoy the morning sunshine. The dog gets a treat, my neighbor gets a few ear scratches in & the dog comes back to the house. No harm, no foul, but then again I’m not a control freak.

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
Reminds me of a story about a junk yard that due to complaints had to put up a fence to hide his yard. School busses and car hood is what he used.

I think this could be a marketable idea. So many people need training. I bet shark tank would sponsor you.

    Police reports are even better..

In my few dealings with local PD, they say always call them, no matter how insignificant the issue may seem to be.

I would hate this issue as well. We walk our dog about 3 miles/day and say no to people that want to pet our dog or offer to give him treats.

I think it's about training the dogs.

You'll need to catch her in the act when she starts calling your dogs to give them treats. Give the command to stop the dogs from going to her, and lure them towards you with their favorite toys and special treats. Designate a place of the yard where you want them to hangout and keep things fun in that area.

    It will be a process.

I think in the end, your neighbor will get tired of being ignored.

I'm curious what would have happened if you'd refused to take the shed down.

I'm not sure if the laws are different here but the shed that the previous owners built in my yard is technically too close to the fence. I was told there's no issue with it as it is but if we ever replaced or rebuilt it, we'd have to move it over (and thus make it smaller due to the space in the yard).

I've tried that but they either sleep through it or are already up. Possibly because my wife isn't a morning person.

Said they would have levied a monthly fine until it came into ordinance (which was costly and impossible) or it was removed. Came to find out later that certain residents of the county are granted “exceptions” based on where they work with handshake agreements. It’s BS

I've thought about trying that in the summer when I have to put my trailer there. The rest of the time, I'd rather have my truck on the driveway and my wife's new car in the garage.

I was wondering if the fine would be less than the $2k you had to pay to get rid of the shed but monthly would add up for sure.

What a bunch of crap. Time for a county commissioner to step in and have him levy fines for all property owners who have sheds or change the code.

Check to see if you can apply for a property line variance.

The dog. I'd be more inclined to pop the owner with a BB gun.

No one should be feeding anyones else's dog(s), unless they ask first, on each encounter.

Aside from the recall/command issues, they don't know the dietary situation of the dogs or if they just had treats by you.

absolutely. Not an issue anymore. It's sad because it was such a nice dog. Just carefree and that's what caused his demise.

That's what I tried to do but our county is ridiculous. Very uppity and thinks they need to preserve the appearance of affluence by monitoring and regulating everything. Meanwhile there are cars with 4 flat tires parked out front of houses rusting out and under covers, boats that haven't been used in decades, etc. Cost me a few hundred dollars to file the variance and it was denied with the quickness.......citing the same ordinances. Tried that twice with "new information". I am sure they will let him keep the shed as it stands, but once you remove it or replace it, they will not allow it to be that close to the property line (if the county is anything like mine). I am going to expand our existing shed in the backyard this spring when i replace some rotted wood. That should give me more space

Let your neighbor know what food you feed your dog and then let them know that they can only feed your dog a few pieces in the morning. They get to get their puppy time and your dog doesn’t get junk food. Plus, you never know when you might need to call them up to feed your dog if you’re in a jam.

    Lots of stuff!
We have a neighbor who has a straight piped Camero that comes out on the weekends. When started, the windows shake and everyone jumps! Then the pressure washer runs all the time so the car is clean sometimes twice a day.

The noise bylaws are set based on the time of day and this guy always keeps his noise in those times but this interrupts all the weekends during the summer.

I did notice that the car hasn’t been seen recently so maybe it wont be back! :)

All this kind of stuff is why I live in the county. Most of my neighbors are cattle or bison. The one actual neighbor I have is a good one. We're both very much the "leave me alone" kind of neighbors, so we get on perfectly.

Bummer about your dogs. We love our neighbors. The nearest one is about 1/2 mile away and lets me borrow his backhoe when I need it.
The next closest neighbor is a mile the other way. Always willing to help when you need something.
When the 40 acre lot in front of us came up for sale, we bought it, just to keep someone else from getting it, because 2 neighbors are enough.

We have decent neighbors on either side of us, both with dogs.

One has gotten signficantly better since she divorced her shitheel husband, mainly because she's way happier now and he's not being a layabout. She's actually our insurance broker, so I'll ask her to modify my policy by hollering over the fence while grilling. LOL. She has a big old bloodhound named Buford. He's old, half deaf, half blind and dumb as a post but with a loud whoooo, whhoooo bark. She controls him pretty well, but every now and then while I'm working on the yard next to the fence he'll sneak over and scare the bejeezus out of me with a loud ass bark. He's a good boy though.

The neighbors on the other side are a couple roughly a year or two younger than us with two quiet, well behaved dogs. One is a lab, the other looks like a lab/shepherd cross. We see them occasionally, and I BS with the husband a bit if we're both out puttering in our yards but they mostly keep to themselves.

The neighbors behind us have a little rat "dog" that can fuck off but it mostly stays inside. We don't really talk to those neighbors, so whatever.

I don't feed the neighbor's dogs though. I'm not a dog owner, so I legitimately don't know what I should or shouldn't feed to a dog nevermind if the dogs have any medical issues that can be complicate with food. Plus, feeding dogs is up to their owner not some random shmuck next door.

As for annoying neighbors, there's the guy 2 doors down who was/is dating some dumptruck looking lady who would smoke 3 or 4 massive joints a day in the back yard stinking up the block if the wind was right. Haven't seen her in awhile though.

Oh, and there's the guy who missed the garbage pickup on his side of the street so tried putting his crap in our can leaving the lid open and potentially causing a mess we'd be responsible for. The Woman caught him in the act and told him politely to not do that. He's given us the cold shoulder since.

Let's not forget the douche who has no exhaust and leaves for work everyday at 6am and seems to feel it's imperitive that the neighborhood knows he's leaving.

Finally, the house 3 doors down owned by some friendly Phillipinos. Not bad or particularly annoying folks, but it would appear they let their children loose with paint and brushes on their house. Random colors, horrible workmanship, zero taste. It's just an eyesore of a house but out of my daily sight so it's more of a headshaker than anything.

Shock collar. Hopefully by 2025 it'll be the new norm. I honestly think it may be the only way to retrain society.

That'd work! I tested my old crackhead dog's E-collar on myself before putting it on him, it gets your attention.

Here is a quick update on my personal dealings with my neighbor. I had a nice chat with her today and I'm believing she heard me out. She admitted that she often treats and feeds my dogs and that she would stop. Honestly, it was quite pleasant to be able to rant and have them acknowledge it and even stand there for a some time afterwards bitching about taxes and other local tourist town 1st world problems. And thanks to Uncle Sam and Chesty, if she doesn't follow through on her word, at least I already have a ghillie suit.
