...and this one has absolute nothing to do w/the fact that pilots and other industry experts either left or were let go and companies started filling vacant positions w/those less qualified to put a butt in the seat.

I mean, after all, we've never strong winds before... right???

 

I'd be worried about the stresses on the plane after that kind of journey. That's a different level of speed than they are designed for and may accelerate the needs for maintenance or even cause excess material fatigue that could lead to accidents or crashes. I'm glad they made the journeys safely, but I hope the airlines are thorough with inspections to make sure the aircraft haven't been compromised.

 

And equity. Diversity and equity together equate to over $100k a year. By themselves not so much.

 

Time is a construct of man. Which is why we don't have any around.

Tail end of this shift had some maintenance run over and be a PITA. They said they'd be wrapped up in 20-30 minutes after the window, and being nice I agreed. Nearly an hour later they finally wrapped up. I was actually just grabbing my headset to tell them to stop work and everything was getting turned back up when they sent the notice that they finished. Pisses me off. If you're an hour out from finishing, don't bullshit me and say you'll be done in 20 minutes. I shouldn't have cleared the extension in the first place, and really hoping I don't catch hell for it.

 

Does this mean unapproved OT for you?

 

No. It's within my normal shift hours, but we have a scheduled maintenance window and they ran over it by a full hour. We try not to do that to not piss off customers. People expect phones to be flawless as is, because people are retarded.

Many many many years ago I worked for McDonnell Douglas and if a plane exceeded it's normal cruising speed by 40% that plane would have been grounded until tests were completed. Then again that was many many many years ago and things change... maybe not for the best
