July 2021 I installed Morimoto XB LED GEN2 Headlights and their DRL relay module under the drivers side dash. Without the relay, I have hyperflash on the right turn signal

My truck came stock with the factory DRL always on + turn signal.

Everything worked fine. Fast forward to last weekend, 2023.
We hook up a travel trailer and no brake lights to the trailer after connecting to my 7-pin tow. Turns and emergency work.

I contact @Headlight Revolution and also Morimoto who tell me they had a bad batch of DRL relays around the time I purchased. They sent a new one. Installed it today, and does not fix the issue.

I get tow brake lights using the factory Toyota DRL relay module. So it's not a wiring issue between the front and back of my truck.

I've got the double-tap harness plugged into the correct location in my fuse box. See pics. It's using two 10-amp fuses that came with the harness and the headlights.

checked all my fuses related to tow, brakes, and lights. They’re all fine

Anyone know what the problem is?

I don’t have anything specific to your situation, but it’s so often the ground with trailers that I usually start there. Wire your trailer frame to your negative post and see whether that changes the behavior. Is it possible ground resistance combined with the different relay module (is it higher resistance to simulate a standard bulb?) has an effect in combination?

Joe557.. I had the same issue and nobody had an answer. I reinstalled my original flasher module back in the truck and all of my lights work perfectly fine now on the trailer. The only thing that sucks is the clicking noise from the relays. The problem with the Morimoto DRL Flasher is the ground is missing for that trailer brake light circuit. I hopes this helps with anyone else who is having this issue. Hit me up and let me know if it resolves your issue.

yeah I had to reinstall the factory DRL to tow, but I need the Morimoto DRL to fix hyperflash on the right turn signal. It’s a pain in the ass to swap out DRL every time. I can’t believe Morimoto doesn’t have the correct DRL module. They sent me 3 thinking I had faulty ones. But really, their DRL is not designed correctly if it’s missing the ground. Super annoying.

Vleds makes a hyperflash blinker resistor, would be worth a try.

Didn’t they give you the resistors for the lights? It should have come in the kit. I don’t have the hyper flash issue. But, I do have the full Morimoto headlights with the taillights. Do you have the Morimoto headlights set? If you still have the factory headlights with the incandescent turn signal lights that may be an issue as well, causing your hyper flashing. Just a thought.
