Did anyone else on here do a break-in oil change? If so, did you send a sample off to be analyzed? I have heard of metal flakes in the first change.

We want Ryan to be on top of every post and on every single Toyota detail. It is very helpful.

When Ryan was on vacation for a month, I was really disappointed that this community didn't feel the same without his insight

Never done it, never will. I also dont baby it when it's new. I give it some WOT runs here and there. Also think of this, if doing a break in oil change was that important, 1- the manuf would put it in the manual and 2- if was that important then apparently it doesn't affect the majority of engines since the majority of owners dont do it.

I would do what you feel good about. Nobody can tell me what to do with my own money.

That being said, call up any engine builder or driveline shop. After a new axle or new motor is broke in their recommendation will far exceed any advice you will get off this site.

I did an oil change at 500 miles and another at 1k.

    Oil is cheap, engines aren’t.
