Hello everyone I have a 2014 toyota tubdra 5.7l 4x4 woth 125k miles and have been loosing coolant since i bought it about 1 gear ago i was doing my oil change when I noticed my trans heater and hoses were covered with coolant and I know its coolant because i checked my coolant reservoir and it was almost empty I am not very mechanical inclined but i rented a pressure test kit from my autoparts store abd raised the psi to 17 and it would start dropping immediately and fast withing 5 minutes it would go to 0psi but i could not find the leak any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank youu

you need to make sure the radiator is full. you probably lost most of your coolant. just use water for test purposes

Most likely the valley plate is leaking and the coolant is draining down and toward the rear. The valley plate is located under the intake manifold and there's sealing surfaces around the perimeter that are a bit narrow and that's usually the cause of the leak. Just not enough width of seal against the internal hot coolant pressure. You can look around under the intake manifold with a flashlight and small telescopic inspection mirror to confirm. You can also clean off the mess and then watch it form again to see where it originates from. Probably can find a video on YouTube about it. Good luck!

some say to replace the top plate after removing it too since it can crack from prying it off and you may not be able to tell

True, and as an alternative one can purchase cleaner, dye, and developer to conduct a non destructive dye penetration test to check for cracks as well. Similar cost for a one time job unless it's cracked, one already has the test supplies, or will benefit from the leftover supplies. Probably videos of dye penetrating tests on YouTube also.

So it’s like changing a light bulb on a VAG product.

    Sigh: Volkswagen Audi Group. :annoyed:

They come with their own illumination now? I've been using my trusty carbide lamp on my miner's haymet.
