Hello everyone I have a 2003 standard feature, two door tundra long bed work truck. I’ve had it since new. It now has 250,000 miles. when I tried to get a safety check ,I realized my horn didn’t work. I changed the clock spring which was not the problem . The fuse is good . I could not find a relay that I could replace. I am suspicious of a bad wire or ??? . Please Help ,What should I do?

Take a look at the FSM and you’ll find the troubleshooting flow sheet. A link is posted in Shifty’s FGT mega post. Also search for your issue as several have posted.

I am chasing down potential causes in my LX as well. Replaced the clock spring. That wasn’t it. My fuse keeps blowing though. When I get another spare 5 minutes, I am going to put my multimeter on each horn and on the horn switch itself.

I did see a youtube video where a guy cleaned and replaced a ground wire in the steering wheel. That fixed his horn. Worth a shot? :notsure:

I believe there's a simple metal contact for the horn on the underside of the airbag assembly, and with time, it becomes corroded/dead. Someone posted pics on here in the last 6-12 months.

Thank you for the replies. I do not have a problem with my fuse. I have a separate ground wire going to the horn airbag assembly which is clean and sound. I’m wondering if I have a bad wire and how to check it. I tested my horn and they work. Does anyone know how to locate and check the horn relay, ?

I tested the horn Ground wire, With a multimeter and it worked fine. I put pins in the end of the blue and yellow wire going to the airbag horn assembly and initially got a Erratic signal, but did not get it the second time I checked I rechecked the fuse, still OK,. I have a wire that goes to the transmission overdrive on the stock. I wondered if I could tie into that to get power for the horn airbag assembly if that is what the problem is?

I mean, inside the airbag assembly there was a mechanism that, when you push on the horn, it touches metal to ground. I'm not talking about the clockspring wiring. There's a thread around this 1st gen subforum with pictures of it. It's possible it was only on the earlier model steering bag assemblies, not sure.

Did you try to connect the horn directly to the battery yet?

Yes, it was a useful video. I tested the horn wire at the clock spring by shorting it and all I got was a clicking under the dash. In the olden days it would’ve been a replaceable relay. My truck has an integrated relay. It looks like it might be part of the fuse panel under the dash does anyone know how to replace the relay

On the back of the fuse panel there are multiple actual relays. Example: https://www.tundras.com/threads/interior-electrical-issues-‘06-dc.122071/#post-3135811

Note the blue relays. You'll need to look at the FSM to figure out which is what for your truck. Although it looks like some of those relays have indications of what they are above them as seen here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/interior-electrical-issues-‘06-dc.122071/#post-3164456

To that end, I don't see any that are explicitly "HORN", just the following on that example:

    TAIL
    BK/UP
    ACC
    PWR MAIN
    FOG

Maybe it's the ACC one, I dunno. You could put your hand on one and feel which is clicking.

Have you tried feeding power to the horn with a 9v battery to make sure it's not the horn busted?
