Cam sprockets dry, slight water pump leak(bottom right corner), will be replacing water pump/timing belt components. The oil pump appears to be covered in oil/sludge. I already pulled the crank sprocket and front main seal as you can see in the pictures, but I have my doubts as to where this leak is coming from. Has anyone ever seen or experienced this? Have been chasing leaks on this truck for a little bit now just did the rear main/oil pump O-ring. 2UZFE 135,000 miles. How bad would it be to remove the oil pump if it came down to it? Would hate to reassemble and have oil splashing around my new timing belt. IMG_2157.jpg IMG_2159.jpg IMG_2158.jpg IMG_2160.jpg

Is it just an optical illusion, or is there a piece of the oil pump broken on top where the crank protrudes?

Not seeing that, save the photo and possibly circle what you are seeing?

Clean it up real well with degreaser and see if it seeps, and where it seeps from. It doesn't look like your timing belt is slinging it everywhere, that is good. That is a crazy one. Did you accidentally way-overfill it with oil at some point? No residue at all above the oil pump housing  I would almost have to guess the front main, but you have residue on your transmission cooler line on the left.

Yes I agree, less residue towards the top but still some. Never overfilled. In my experience (mostly diesel engines) an oil leak will create a clean area and then collect a sludge pile, with this one it’s just hard to tell. Wish I could clean it up, run it, and see but the bottom timing cover takes over the whole area :bananadead:

Well that's good, it just looks really odd being exposed like that.

Some of that is just rubber dust and melted rubber dust from the belt wear. Was oil leaking from the cover before?

Oh heck yeah, rear main was leaving a puddle in the driveway and this leak in particular has been coating the front of the engine/oil pan. Evidence in photos
