2024 Hard Key doesn't work?

Hello All,

I recently bought my tundra in December and as everyone knows you get jipped out of a key fob. So I left my fob at my uncles house, and when I got back to my house I needed something out of my truck so I was like ok whatever I'll use the hard key to unlock and get it and lock it with the button...

I proceed to use the hard key. The door opens but the alarm goes crazy. So I try to hit unlock to shut it up but that doesn't work. I try to use the app and that doesn't work either. It won't shut up so I had to disconnect the battery. Go to my uncles get the fob, rehook the battery and let it go off and it shut it luckily using the fob. Etf is the point of the hard key?

 

If your battery is dead in a locked vehicle the key will be needed to open the vehicle and open the hood.
Then it can be jump started.
The fob is the transponder key just unlocks/locks the door....... .

 

Ah gotcha. My other vehicles have the key incorporated into the fobs. I figured this was a spare to unlock it. I'm very paranoid with the one fob because I drive a lot for work out of town. Lose it and I'm screwed

 

They are getting caught up pretty quick. Mine was purchased April 23 and got my 2nd fob end of 23 or beginning or 24 (forgot already).
Please check your toyota app for updates and you will need to call the service dept so they can order it in before your appointment.

Second key will go with the 2nd fob once you get it. So don't lose that either.
