To undercoat?, i know there is a forum on here to undercoat or not.i am a firm believer in undercoating my vehicles especially in Canada. I undercoat my vehicles twice a year, wax them twice a year cause unfortunately they sit out outside. I been looking at fluid film for an undercoating oil, but i got talking to someone and they said they disagree cause the salt and stuff can lay on top of it and stick to it. I regularly wash my vehicles also once a week usually and that’s why my 2000 and 2005 vehicles look great still. I also was told through grape vine an old trick back in the day was to use chainsaw oil mixed with hydraulic fluid?. I will be using a hoist apply the oil. Just trying to do my research on best oil to use and what not. Thank you

I personally used fluid film this year. It caked up with some dirt but I figure that washes off and I’ll apply it again next winter.

Fluid film. I use it every fall before winter. Three spray can for hard to reach areas. Ad gallon can to brush on the stuff on big frame parts. Do not spray on a windy day. Don’t ask me how I know. Keeps my 2008 from Nashville looking like new underneath after five Minnesota winters. Peace. New Hampshire Oil Black. To hold back the rust, since Pennsylvania used 821,000 thousand tons of salt/brine on the roads in 2021. You gotta use something.

Another product similar to Fluid Film but supposedly slightly better is PB Blast Surface Shield. I've used both.

I used Wool Wax for the first time this past fall. So far, I am impressed. Good adhesion and it flows well when first applied. I use my hitch as the best indicator. By now, with Krown or Rust Check I’d be touching it up. No need with Wool Wax. It is still fully coated.

I predict I’ll only need to touch up the truck next year, not a full spray, but I’ll make that call in September.

Thank you guys, i have a gallon of black fluid film with a new undercoating gun i plan to use on the frame and under carriage, i will use clear fluid film in doors and under hood areas so it doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb.

FYI fluid film smells pretty bad for a few days after application.

Try to keep it off of rubber components as you go. I completely remove the spare to get all up in the cavity. Some disposable drop cloth or cardboard and gloves are a must too. Be safe!

    Not sure your location but:

    https://www.sublimesurfacing.com/

Edmonton, and Ontario are two locations. Ive oil undercoated for decades. I,believe this guy is better.

he removes wheel, well, liners (you will be shocked at how much dust/dirt accumulates and hold moisture) and more important he dry ice blasts the undercarriage before coating with wax.

    i,drove 1200km to,have it done. Good for 3-15 years

I use POR15. I drove from CA to WA and back, zero rust. I even got stuck in a mud salt bed, I still have zero rust.

Which color undercoating you'll choose and why?
