Bear doing his job, watching the chickens and keeping them together. Good boy. Yesterday was the first day we let the chickens free roam out in the pasture to see how it went. Now the fun part is trying to find the eggs….

Yesterday morning my neighbors dog was attacked by something and drug down near this pond which sits between our house on 15 acres. She was a smaller dog and she had puncture wounds on her neck and side. She didn't make it.
My neighbor thinks coyote which are here but I am leaning towards a bobcat since the neck wounds.
A mountain lion would have carried it away.
What do you guys think it could have been? I am in the foothills of the Sierras

That sucks to hear. Cat (big or small) kills are usually on the neck. But canine can do so as well. Puncture size and spacing would be more accurate way to assess by vet. Very sorry for your neighbor's loss.

This is Barkley... when I brought him home and just a few days ago.
My wife and I have been fortunate enough to have had several dogs over the years.
But this little guy turned out to be really special to both of us. He travels with us. Sleeps with us... he is always by our side.
A couple of weeks ago he was extremely sick, and we ended up at Ohio State University emergency vet services with him.
Long story shortened, we found out he has stage 5 lymphoma. He is currently home taking a high dose of prednisone.
You wouldn't know anything was wrong with him now. He is eating, playing and basically being a good dog.
The prednisone makes him drink a ton of water, so he needs to go outside about ever 2-3 hours. That makes for some tough nights... but he is worth it.

We have also started treating him with Fenbendazole. Apparently, it has been used to stop cancer from growing and sometimes eliminating it all together. We are very hopeful that it will add some time to his life with us... we are hoping it adds a lot! The little guy is only 7 years old...

Good to hear it’s working out. I know from experience that some dogs just won’t tell another to back off. I think its our responsibility to recognize when a dog isn’t enjoying the play and step in to give them space.

this is now her default mode while at the Vet, she hates it there. She'll snuggle up between us for protection.
I see those lines under her eyes along the base of her snout. Sugar doesn't have them as pronounced.

Good for Milo! don't take no crap off no one!

We usually take her in every 6 weeks or so when she starts to get fluffy and homeless looking. She’s a wavy coat doodle, though, so she’s not as bad as a regular poodle coat.
