What are the limits on the TRD PRO Shocks, both Bilstein & Fox? What I mean is, how well do they perform at high speeds? Do they bottom out hard? Do they perform well with some extra weight in the bed (400-600lbs)? Also, can they be rebuilt and accept a valve change?

These questions have itched at me for some time now. Does anyone have any real-world experience beating on stock TRD Pro Shocks? Please share your experience. Thanks!

@TRDFerguson can chime in on his experience with the Billy TRDPros.

Does anyone have any experience with the performance of the TRD Pro Fox suspension at high-speed desert runs? Has anyone tried to rebuild or re-valve those shocks? Somebody on here has got pushed those TRD Pro Fox shocks to the limit and can report back...

I haven't gone crazy fast over anything super rough, just around 50-55mph on more chewed up fire road. They performed well. Super smooth. I did hit some large speeds bumps at around 40 mph a few nights ago. Again, soaked them right up. No bouncing what so ever.
When going slow on really rough terrain they are pretty plush.
They can be rebuilt and the guy who rebuilt mine said he could revalve them also, if I wanted. https://jtechmotorsport.com/

Now for the possible negatives- They rock and sway on the freeway quite a lot. That's to be expected. My truck is the Sport package, so I had the Sport package suspension on it before I put the Fox shocks on. Drastic difference and it definitely took some getting used to. I added sliders (150#) and a gas tank skid (85#) a week after I did the shocks. The sliders probably didn't make much difference being the weight is evenly distributed on both sides. But, the gas tank skid made a huge difference in a negative way. I threw an spare wheel into the bed on the passenger side to counter balance. It works.
Also, I'm sure they are tuned and valved for a stock-ish weight Tundra. If you go adding heavy ass bumpers, you'd probably want a revalve.
All my mods I had on my previous Tundra as well with Bilstein 6112/5160. The Bilstein definitely felt better on the road with virtually no body roll, swaying, or brake diving. Was definitely rougher with potholes and slower speed off-roading.
I'm happy with the Fox, but I bought them barely used, had them rebuilt ( since I couldn't confirm the use), and have a tad more into them then a set of Bilstein 6112/5160.
With that being said, at the normal price of $3k+, I personally would probably go a different direction. There's lots of options in the $3-5k price range.

I have run mine at some fairly high speeds on unmaintained county roads, sand dunes, open fields as well as never slowing down for speed bumps :) The faster you go, the better it rides. I have never felt that there was not enough shock under it. It makes me want to drive fast....
I also love the way it rides on the road. Everyone who rides with me comments on how smooth it rides over everything.
Perfect? No. Way better than anything I have owned? Absolutely.

Thank you both for the feedback! I can't wait to find a deal on a set of TRD Pro Fox shocks.

I ordered some Coachbuilder TRD Pro shims and +3 shackles a few days ago, so the setup will change again soon.

Please report back your review of how it rides! Post a video of you tearing up some desert trails if you feel like it!
