So i just got my hands on some fox 2.5 coilovers that can go up to a 3 inch lift. I was just curious if i needed a extended bump stop to keep them from bottoming out or would i be good with factory, i was planning on getting some timbrens in the front but wasnt sure if i was gonna need an extender to drop the bump stop lower. I have a 21 tundra trail edition 4x4.

I’m going to say no on extending the bumpstops if you’re planning on keeping the stock sized tires.

Get some Wheelers Superbumps @Unholysinz . Cheap, easy and much softer when they make contact.

Yea i was looking at those, i was just wondering of i need some sort of extender to drop the bump stop lower since i have a 3 inch lift in the front. I had a spacer lift before and ive heard to not bottom the shocks out cuz they might get damaged. But i just replaced them with a suspension lift. Would i need a bumb stop extender?

I'm in the same boat as you, went from spacer lift to 3 inch coilovers. From what I've read with the spacer lift you can over compress the shock causing it basically to snap unless you have bump stop extensions. However I believe with adjustable coilovers they are not needed

The picture I posted above is with the Wheelers Superbumps on a 3 inch lift. No extender needed @Nbab23 . They are beefy and much bigger and softer than the stock bump stops.

A proper coilover like you now have should not need bump stop extensions. A spacer lift DOES because it physically moves the entire shock assembly downward, where as an aftermarket coilover uses the spring and adjuster ring to set the lift, meaning the actual shock body is not extended downward so is fine with stock, or stock style, bump stops.
