Casey, since this is where you moved the updates, how's the daughter and her BF doing these days? In PT yet?

    Thanks for asking Adam.

She’s doing pretty good. She’s had a couple of PT appointments so far, and the more she moves around the more she sees the numbness/tingling/strange sensations in her left leg subside. She’s been getting around more an more on her own (we got her a replacement car this past weekend) and quality of life is generally improving. She’s got a hell of a scar, and can “feel” the hardware and how it impedes her movement, and that is difficult to get used to. She’s also still limited to what she’s allowed to pick up or carry for at least another month or two. Her next follow-up with neurosurgery will be sometime in March, and weekly PT is scheduled to April so far.

Her BF is a bit of another story. His issues seem to keep getting worse instead of better. First is the fact they took 3 weeks post accident to finally MRI his knee, and then nearly two more weeks for the doctor to review and provide diagnosis (torn PCL, which is apparently quite common from the sort of injury/impact to the dashboard, yet they didn’t bother to check it out other than xrays). They are now waiting at least another month for swelling to subside before they decide when to do surgery to reconstruct it - which will then require 9-12 months for recovery. On top of that, he’s been dealing with pain/swelling/redness around the site of the incision for his humerus fracture repair (pins/plates). THAT was another discovery nearly 1-1/2 weeks after the initial “bone set” was found it hadn’t actually set, and then another 1-1/2 weeks until they could get him in for surgery to fix the bone. They determined yesterday because of the redness and swelling that he needed to go on a 2 month MRSA antibiotic regminen (they never gave him post-op care instructions and never gave him an Rx for post-op antibiotics). Then further discovery this morning that the Dr that did the surgery is under some sort of investigation related to high rate of post-op infections (same Dr that has been mostly non-responsive on the knee and everything else as well). And then just this evening apparently the wound in the arm split open and drained a massive amount of shit… So they’ve got to run the course of the MRSA antibiotics before determining if they need to open him back up and remove all the hardware they put in to hold the bone. In the meantime, he can’t get the arm wet at all, and the poor kid is hobbling around with a cane to support the left knee but he has to use with his right hand because his left arm is broken.

Well, I'm glad your daughter is on the road to recovery.

Holy shit, my heart breaks for her BF though. That's gotta be rough on him, her, and his whole family. I can't imagine.

Glad your daughter is progressing nicely.

    Holy smokes!!!
That’s awful about the BF. Does he have any hobbies? I love spending money and more than happy to send up a surprise care package. It’d be like a box of chocolates.. never know what you’re going to get . Especially with how my brain works..

How’re you holding up, Casey? With the long work hours and then this on top of it you must be freaking shattered..

Glad your daughter is doing better, but man that's a rough go for the BF. Not that I'm for this, but hopefully there might be some legal compensation or actions they can do. MRSA is no joke. I had a friend who's mom got it and it didn't end well. Hopefully they can progress with him to limit/prevent any further damage.

We are a pretty good community of misfits on here that I feel will help in anyway possible.

The hobby he was really getting into was motocross...but that's not gonna be happening for a while.
We're going up to see the Supercross in Seattle near the end of March to hopefully lift his spirits a bit.

V2 of the TRD Pro Front Camera Shim is now live. All camera shim orders moving forward will include the additional hardware and slightly improved shim (no more need to enlarge the hole in the YotaLED plate).

    Already ran another prototype.
Narrowed the exterior "flange" / bezel to be the same width as the spacing between the switches.
Same cut-out in the panel, but a little more compact overall.

Not trying to push my luck here but I think a version that has cutouts for blue sea switches so you can do @BiggHertz switchpro macro mod (or an antenna raise/lower paddle switch) would be sweet..

Someone wants to send me a few switches of the desired type and size, I can look at adaptations to the core design…

If other people are interested in this then I’ll pony up $ and have some sent out, but if it’s just gunna be me then a rasp on existing holes will work just as well.

    Signed: #1forumcheapskate :D

Buttt it would be nice to have them horizontal. Maybe stacked?.. and the window switch to the left of ‘em

https://www.aironboard.com/online/products/switches/toyota-push-switches.html?color=390 - the light blue is a close match to the factory switch color.

CH4X4 also makes ones that fit the factory switch openings, and you can do custom symbols, but their blue is more a dark blue.

I’ll be getting current orders out tomorrow

    More prototyping today…
    1-switch insert
    IMG_1124.jpg IMG_1125.jpg

Also have the 2-switch and 3-switch ones in final-final test.

And worked on a switch blank that mimics the factory one, but with texture matching the inserts I am printing (factory on the right in the last photo).

Switch isn’t here yet, but I looked up the details on the panels for mounting those and did a little mock-up:
    IMG_0084.png

unfortunately, I don’t feel like there’s enough room to turn them 90* and make them fit with ample room between them.
