Purchased my '24 1794 about a month ago. I'm still trying to figure out all the buttons and the damn radio. Don't get me wrong, I traded off a 2020 Ram that had almost as much crap on it and I have a 2022 Mach 1 so I'm used to that stuff. But all this BS on the Tundra is making me appreciate my 70 Cuda with roll up windows, a turn signal that only does signals, and a floor mounted high beam switch. Sometimes simple is much much better !!

You can turn a lot of it off or at least tone them down. Mine screams every time I pull in and out of the garage, but I am de-sensitized to it now, much like the constant beeping of earth machines on a construction site, ya just mentally close it off.

Try reading your manual. A few of the most distracting nanny features can be turned off. You don’t have to listen to, or see, multiple warnings when pulling into your garage, for example.

I have read the manual. It's just that a person shouldn't have to waste time trying to figure out all the BS that's really unnecessary.

I’m confused because you have that old guy mentality of old school is best but you want autonomous levels of the truck just knowing what you want, and turning things off that you find annoying. Also I wish I could afford a 2024 haha

Why did you trade your 2020 ram? How do you like Tundra comparing to ram?

I will say that Ram is a more obvious or intuitive control for me. My previous Ram I don't even know if it has a owners manual. I test drive 2 or 3 2022s when I bought and operated all the features on them without a 2nd thought. Tundra is not awful but not as obvious to me

I've been buying new vehicles since the mid 70's. When I buy something, I have the right to complain about it. This forum is 90+% complaints which is apparently something you two love to do. Even if it doesn't involve the truck itself.

I had a Tundra prior to the Ram. My Ram had almost 60,000 miles on it and I was ready for something else and wanted to salvage as much $$$ out of it while I could. Was a great truck with a great V8 engine, but was time for something else and was tired of all black interior. When I saw the tan and brown interior and the brown paint job on the 1794 I fell in love with it !!

switching from one oem to another and the way they layout stuff is going to be a steep learning curve especially if you never drove the new oem before. each oem has many quirks that are unique to them.

more so if you go from usa oem's to japan oem's

    What he said.

But OP, I can’t agree with you more about the Tundra specifically. Having come from a 2018 F150, I can say that the placement of the Tundras controls is anything but intuitive. Like putting the heated steering wheel switch on the left side of the dash instead of with the climate control switches. Or the fact that about half of the left side dash switches are not even visible when driving unless you cock your head to the left.

Well, a lot of RAMs have a shifter knob on the dash where climate control knobs are on other vehicles. IMO, that is the least intuitive design ever.

Now that we've established it's okay to complain here... LOL

What really Erk's me is that the truck settings controlled from the steering wheel controls often have acronyms with no explanation.
    Turn KPZR on/off?

Come on Toyota. Put a sentence or two on the display explaining what the control is for. You've got this nice big screen to use (2 of them).
In fact it would be cool if the entire owners manual was integrated into the A/V system and was searchable (when in Park).

Just for future reference, the KPZR is the Killer Pedestrian Zap Ray for pesky slow moving crosswalk sloths. You wanna leave that one on, especially in dense urban areas.

I'm with you. I bought the 1794 mostly because of the contrasting interior. I'm 8000 miles into and I still like the look of it every time I open the door. I think @breathingborla has a great looking dialed in Platinum but I just couldn't do another black interior. Fun to have choices.

I think it's good to have choices on the nannies too although it does take some time to get it set up. Some people love the adaptive cruise. I hate it and leave it off. There are probably 10 or so things like that. I think being annoyed with it will be in the rearview mirror in a couple of weeks.

Enjoy the truck. I like mine more every time I drive it.

See, reading stuff like this makes me glad I have a 2021. That is such an unnecessary feature. What’s wrong with just ramming them like an adult
