Have to agree. We've had gas for decades. My son closes on his first house next week and it was one of the priority items on his features list. His apartment has a glass top electric. Who in the world thought a stove that spreads heat across the entire top was a good idea.

Gas isn't just about quick heat, it's the ability to quickly drop the heat as well. Haven't used induction, but the restrictions on what pans can be used is a non-starter with me. Our family has used Revereware for four generations. Plus I use a old school wok,. We picked our Kitchenaid cooktop for the fact that it has the power burner and wok ring.

Anyone here AC or HVAC guys? Looking to see what the better unit is for FL heat. Rheem or Ruud. Rheem manufacturers Ruud but I saw one site that said the only difference between the two is that Rheem is quiter.

I had a Rheem that lasted 28 years the the heat exchaner got a hole in it. It was a gas pack. I replaced it with the exact same model, just 28 years newer and it's been solid.

Friend who is an HVAC tech out here in Phoenix had us go with a Ruud unit when we replaced our Trane. We've had the Ruud for a little over 4 years now and it's been much more reliable than the Trane ever was. Had to replace the start capacitor, but otherwise it's been a solid unit.

I’ve got two Tranes. They’ve been good but I’ve also heard the new evaporators aren’t as good as the old units

PXL_20240218_154302122.jpgMore progress on the planter foundation/structure. If it warms up enough today, I'll finish the back two courses. Then, we fill it and get the stones to stack/face it! Uhhh, then put plants in it.

Anyone seen this guy? We have a gas stove and pretty much always want to have it, but this looks pretty freaking cool.
    https://www.impulselabs.com/

So it plugs into a standard 120v plug (i think it said a 15a circuit...might have been a 20a though) but has a big 3kwh lithium battery in it so it can crank the juice up and boil water in 40sec. Pretty steep at $5.5k, but cool tech

Whoa. That’s pretty crazy but looks cool. Interesting that they thought to use a battery for the extra juice though.

Got a project coming up. Anyone removed a mirror this big. It's in a house my son is buying. There are 3 panels each 4x8.
i've seen smaller mirros done with shims, but thinking this is a tape and smash.

Based on the breaker box that hideous light was once a disco ball.

If you care about the glass, tape it up and the try lifting a section at a time with a pry bar. Hopefully they didn’t use a ton of liquid nails

Still need to touch up the wall paint where I fixed a couple of imperfections but on a whim decided to add some LED RGB indirect lighting to my office. Ripped some 2x2s diagonally, tacked them to the studs, then that gave me a good nailer to attach the crown at 1ft below ceiling height. Added a high outlet off of a low outlet in same stud bay. Voila!

    upload_2024-2-21_7-44-48.png

Also Jerry, a 74 year old Veteran, spent the last two days building this shed all by himself! I offered to help when I could break away from my desk but he had his systems in place and I was just getting in his way. (Cost's 50% more if you watch, 150% more if you help) He says he's built 150-180 mini barns a year for a couple decades now. I thought he did a pretty darn good job. Can't wait to build out the inside with storage and finish it, freeing up my garage space again for Toyota activities.

Wow, was that like a dance studio?! . What kind of flooring is that on the raised portion, looks different. Would look nice if you could put a step inside the door and a landing and then make a majority of the room single level! Congrats to your son, and good luck with the renos!

I've cooked plenty on induction, my parents and other family members have them. Inferior in every way. Food must be cooked on fire.

Forward looking camera, Stub Antenna, 3M clearshield. A few other non lifted items.
Looking back 65 years ago when you got chicken from the market, it would have stubbles from the butcher. My mom would burn off the stubbles with the gas flame. Can’t do that with an induction element.

It's just the living/dining room. Kind of has a 70's vibe. Sunken room with a stone wall floor to ceiling with a fireplace. Strange but it was built in th emid 80's. The floor could be raised but coping around the stone harth would not be fun. As for the raised floor, it's cork.

Worked on cleanup from the January snow and ice storms.
Got all the trees that fell across the bottom of my driveway and limbs/widow makers cut up and burned about 6 hours cutting, chopping, dragging, and burning…cleaned up maybe 1/4 acre.

The fire ring is a remnant of 66” DIA steel pipe

I'm gonna have to disagree - my personal preference for indoor cooking is induction. I do love my outside gas grill though.
