Looks like its gone. You can regularly find packs of 12 for 120-130 bucks on Amazon.

    Morning all,

Found a local ad on Offerup, guy sells motor oil by the cases which includes Toyota brand and looks like he might sell at a swapmeet. Would you guys buy?
I'm reading motor oil has a typical shelf life of 5 years. I'd like to buy in bulk just to have at the ready but if it's gonna either already be expired or expire while stocked in my garage, I don't wanna put "expired" oil in my engine. Thoughts?

I havent heard the 5 year expiration for oil. But you could look at the dates on the bottles or cases I think and just get the newest ones. If his prices were good enough I would do it.

Yeah, I hadn't heard anything about it either but I'm always a lil sceptical when I see somewhat too good to be true deals so I looked up shelf life of motor oil n saw a few results saying "5 years" if stored properly. Maybe I'll check it out n see the dates, if it's anything like 10-15 years old, I'll probably pass:monocle:

I would not "bulk" stock past what you might need in the next year or two.
For regular oil change, since I have Tundra and Pilot (now Venza) so I need 8 qt + 5 qt = 13 qt base per change (I don't do it at the same time, but within a month) so I need at least 3 bottles.
Costco has their private branded oil that goes on sales maybe twice (three times?) a year, and I usually get four boxes, 8 bottles. That would last me a year and change, and by then, I would run up another sale and get as much as I foresee needing.
Right now I have two boxes sitting in the garage, and Tundra might be up for oil change in another month or two, so next time Costco runs another sale, I will get some more.
    Just my $.0.2.....

EDIT: just looked up online manual, Venza take 4.8 qt 0W-16..... what the hell is this? Water with cooking oil mixed in?

The eBay seller looks to be new and has pretty low feedback (1). Hopefully it all works out, I tend to stay away from new sellers with low feedback.

Not a bad deal, I just spent $60 on a 1g jug of Valvoline 75W90 at VatoZone last week. The 1qt flexfill were 2 for $36

The felxfills are pretty convenient, I just did the rear diff's in my 4R and Tundra.
I bought 2 flexfill bags and one 1g jug for the job. I used the flexfills and just refilled them a few times for each diff.

I would love to hear anyone explain how full synthetic oil expires in the bottle. I'm also at a bit of a loss as to how a bottle of million year old dino oil goes "bad".

"If you have motor oil that you have no idea how old it is, just have a visual look at it. Pour it out of the container so you can examine it. Fresh motor oil has a pale brown color to it. If the oil is significantly darkened, it may have oxidized. If it has a milky appearance, there could be water in it. It should not be hazy, nor should you be able to detect any kind of settling, or the presence of any particulates.

Absent these things, your motor oil is probably fine to use."

Did they provide you with a tracking number for the package that they say was sent to the wrong apartment?
