Hi Everyone, I was thinking about buying the front center seat for my 2014 Tundra Crewmax. Does anyone know if the center seat will bolt right up if I remove the center console glovebox? I don't care about the leg room. Whoever sits in the center seat can leave their foot towards the right side with the front right passenger. I was wondering if the center seat will be able to bolt down to the 4 center console glovebox bolt holes.

Or if anyone can send some pictures of the front center seat of where the bolts, bolt down. Thank you in advance!

Ok so since I’m assuming no one ever did a center seat conversion, I thought I’d give it a shot. Found a 2007 Tundra center seat at a junk yard for $120. Thank God I didn’t buy one on eBay for over $500. Wasn’t quite sure if it’ll fit a 2014 Tundra but had to take a risk and it bolted right up to all the factory bolt holes. Removing the center console was really easy. A few screws and bolts and it snaps right off. The rear center seat bolt holes had a sticker over it that I just had to peel off. Then I cut a slit in the carpet and folded that section of the slit under to clear the rear seat bolt holes. The front bolt holes were clearly seen but I had to buy two shorter M10-1.25x20mm bolts because the factory bolts were too long and would not go all the way in because it was hitting something underneath. I also had to move the shifter forward a little bit but couldn’t because there was a clamp holding the shifter cable keeping it from sliding in. So I removed the 10mm bolt underneath the truck where the clamp was holding the shifter cable, then removed the clamp from the shifter cable and bolted the clamp back down with the 10mm nut and tying a zip tie from the clamp to the shifter cable to keep it from hitting the thing that spins the differential. I also had to remove the whole bottom plastic piece that goes around the whole bottom of the center seat to clear the shifter. It was just some screws and clips and just pops right off. Then I was able to slide the shifter forward like an inch or so, just enough to clear the center seat. The shifter is just sitting there loosely but I’ll probably put just one screw in with a washer to keep it in place, at kind of an angle to clear the dash better. Also had to remove the shift knob to make it clear the dash better. Had two adult girls sitting in front last night and they said it was comfortable. Glad the center seat came with a seat belt and that it fits 2007-2021 Tundras.

Awesome! Can you post pictures of how the seat fits up against the shifter part of the console? And how did you handle the air conditioning vents?

I had to screw one screw on the the plastic air vent tube on the right front side (#1). Then I used a nut as a spacer under the shifter on the left rear side and screwed it down (#2). Didn’t really need to put a screw there but I just wanted to. Two screws total. The metal bar on the center seat is right up against the shifter and not going anywhere. Also, I just removed the whole vent tube that went down the middle of the center console. So no air for people sitting in back.

Wonder how hard is it to convert to a column shifter?

So you're driving around with it like this just to have a middle front seat?

Yup! Because twice a week, I’m giving 7 people a ride to work. Because it’s dangerous to have two people sitting on the front passenger seat with no seat belt. Gotta have that center seat!

I’m pretty sure it’s doable, but that’s the one thing I’m scared of doing. Unless I have another Tundra I can look at to see what parts are needed and what needs to be done. Because there’s a lot of parts you’ll need to get to get it done.

    That’s a valid reason

Don’t mind me while I do math in my head…

Somebody on here did a column shift conversion. I believe they were adding a front bench seat. If you're still feeling crafty- probably worth looking up. Thanks for the write up!

Interesting idea. If it were me I’d probably just cut the shifter shorter and then re-thread the top. That way you can straighten the shifter out making it more comfortable for the middle seat passenger. Would probably throw a little ball on top there too after re-threading

Can I see the picture from the side. Wondering how shifter looks like in front of middle seat. Thanks!

This doesn’t seem very functional unless you can do a column shifter conversion. I would be a little nervous with that many people piling in and out of the truck and the shifter just laying there exposed. Also, this is just enough to make me think twice, “…..tying a zip tie from the clamp to the shifter cable to keep it from hitting the thing that spins the differential.” Sounds like that could end in disaster and be a pretty expensive fix if something were to fail
