So recently I have bought a 2019 platinum with the jbl system. I had a 2016 platinum with the same system, but the audio in the new truck is definitely worse. I was wondering what could I do to improve the sound quality without replacing speakers. Just an amp maybe? Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no really inexpensive fix for the upgraded jbl system. The way it’s wired from factory and how everything integrates makes it kinda suck to upgrade.
Dash speakers run off the head unit and the rest run off the amp under the passenger seat.
I have the same truck. After trying to integrate things in to make us sound better I gave up and yanked everything out and started over.
You could add an amp but you have 3 speakers in front left and right. Center channel and then components in the back door and sub.
Some have found just adding a better 8 inch sub helps.

james Taylor of tech12volts has some good systems to use for the truck.

oddly enough I spent way more money on this truck system than any other vehicle I have ever had due to the space constraints. But I can say it’s one of the best sounding vehicles I have ever had as well.

Thanks Kevin for the clarification. I was hoping there would be a cheaper alternative.

I came across this box the other day, it definitely caught my attention. There are 1000 things I want to spend money on, so to drop 3k+ on a stereo has little to no worth for me personally. I didn’t do much digging, the few reviews I saw said good things.

If you are decent with installing your own plug-n-play stuff, and are a tinkerer who can customize Android settings (this is basically an Android tablet), I’ve had two of these and love them. They allow you to raise the gain to the factory JBL amp, opening up volume while keeping your factory speakers (if they’re still in good shape), have RCA inputs for multiple cameras (I set up a front camera on mine), have RCA outputs for more amps (if you want a dedicated aftermarket subwoofer), install streaming apps, retain all steering wheel controls, all kinds of stuff. Worth $600 in my opinion. I hope this helps.
