I am having to do my usual research under a little bit of rush due to urgency of needing to replace a 22 f150 power boost that has just annoyed me to the end. From recalls, failures of parts, etc. Time to move on and have a few trucks located. here on some questions that i am searching for answers on and figured what better place to ask.

Looking at Platinum, 1794 and TRD pro

-Gear ratios' don't appear to be easy to find, any idea what gear ratio's are in the 24 tundras?
-Why does the TRD Pro have a reduced MPG estimation? Just tire size or am I missing something (gear ratio?)
-What all does TRD really get you? Suspension changes that make it ride rougher on the road? Electric rear locker, badges, wheels? Am I missing anything? (Dealer and toyota not very good at showing true whats changing)
-Can you turn off the seat belt alarm (wife has a lexus and its annoying when doing small task

Thank you for any help. I may have a few more questions as well.

Same as the 2023s. Nothing changed.

Worse aerodynamics due to being wider and taller, minimally.

I assume you mean TRD Pro? You need to clarify because TRD is vague. There is a TRD Pro trim and then there's the TRD Sport and TRD Off Road packages on other trims.

If you mean the Pro, you get the suspension, wider fender flares, unique visual elements, and the off road systems. Also, the suspension will be softer and less rough on road. Think about it, if you are off road on washboards or potholes, would a stiffer suspension be a good idea? No. It's soft so it soaks up bumps. This will mean more body roll in turns and more sag when trying to tow.

Not without something like techstream or carista, no.

    - IMO the TRD Off Road package has a smoother ride than the base suspension due to the different shocks. I can’t speak to the TRD Pro. Also can’t speak to the adaptive suspension; there were none available within 250 miles of me to test drive and I was happy with the ride of the Off Road. Keep in mind you have to buy aftermarket running board with the Off Road package.
    - yes you can turn off the seat belt alarm using Carista. For what you’re paying for the truck, the cost of a dongle is insignificant.

Unlike the Ford the hybrid is designed for Power not MPG. I’m sure your Ford was more expensive than a Tundra so you shouldn’t get sticker shock. I think that Platinum is the nicest trim but the Pro is definitely a head turner. The platinum has pretty much everything Toyota offers and you don’t need to get it in Hybrid trim. For that kind of money you should test drive both

Platinum/1794 with the Advance Pack is a must. The AVS is a must have unless your intention is to rip out the OEM Suspension and lift the shit out of it.

I have a 23 1794 with TRD off road. TRD includes crawl control and rear locker. Non-Hybrid. My best mileage so far is 20.2 on a trip without using adaptive cruise, that will cost you 2 mpg as it can't anticipate up hills and all overspeed on down hills. It's pretty loaded and comes with the black headliner. Hopefully someone with AVS will chime in they supposedly have the best ride. There are no gear ratio options period.

Non-hybrid here too. Best I can get is 17.5 mpg and I drive 80% interstate.

ShutterFlare do you use the adaptive cruise? On the tank I got 20.2 on I did not and made a conscious effort to keep my speed under 80 mph for a 300 mile mostly highway trip. My understanding is using the cruise in high traffic situations a lot will wear out your brakes prematurely, so between that and sudden acceleration and braking as cars move around in front of you I find myself not using it. I have TRD Pro wheels and tires so if you have stock 20's you have the potential to hit 21 mpg highway by not using cruise and keeping speed down a bit ha.

I do use the adaptive cruise. Traffic is pretty light but I will definitely try going without cruise for a tank to see if it improves. I have the stock off road Falken 20s. I suspect they are affecting my mileage some compared to all-season tires.

Having a hybrid will save a little on the brakes with regenerative braking...

Hybrid here. If I use cruise I have it on the most minimum setting and change lanes well in advance to avoid the brake lag. At 60 mpg on stock tires I have got 28 mpg.. with AT tires 275/60/20 at 75 mph that drops to the 23ish range. I have the AVS and I keep it in Comfort mode 99% of the time. Once you get a taste of that smooth ride it’s hard to go back. I would buy another tomorrow

There you go...mine came with TRD Off Road so you can't get both figured AVS would ride the best...that Capstone on 22's would ride like a brick wagon otherwise

I should add I am 60 and my days of trashing thru the woods and banging down the highway on 37’s has passed. Tossing those wiener wide stock tires was a challenge as I loved that Lexus ride lol. Had to do it, the truck looked so lame with them

Ditto.... Although I did build up my 22 Limited, spent a lot of cash on upgrades then traded for this 23 Plat... It was fun to do that again, but functional wise, it didn't fit my current/future needs.

One other thing TRD OR gets you that hasn’t been mentioned is the MTS system which is pretty neat. I used it this last weekend in a bunch of super wet sloppy snow (actually used the MUD setting), it really does a good job. Also I believe it comes with 18” wheels as opposed to 20”. At least mine has 18”.

Anyway, the MTS and Rear Locker are difficult or expensive to add later on so that’s your true value.

Thanks for the info. Im not sticker shocked, its more of a difficult to find in the loads of them available right now (relative to last few years) certain options/packages. THere are a bunch of identical loaded limited and few platinum's and 1794's at dealers in my area without any of TRD packages. So I am having to travel to even look at TRD options, which isn't that big of an issue if I know what im looking at. Toyota marketing just did a horrible job really breaking them down, then mass confusion when you can throw back on the TRD on another package.

Also, I was told you can't get non hybrid anymore on the higher level trims, building the trucks on their website matches that as well when I did the other day.

I will be driving 35-45k miles a year, so I am conscious of the mileage, however I tow frequently so its not a deciding a factor.

I waited a tick over a year for my truck, and actually found one on the lot that was identical to the one I ordered so bought it.

I wouldn’t want to own one of these without the Hybrid in it.

Ahh ok. I guess that'd make sense if they built the hybrid for better fuel economy and not just for increased power.
