Tracking down what is loose and causing a noise vibration

I have something loose on the passenger side that makes noise. The source is either inside of the passenger side dash or in the engine compartment just in front of it. The annoying part is that it only makes the noise when the truck is in gear and usually not when the brake is applied. Being alone I can't do anything but guess because if I start the engine and put it in park there is no noise to help track down to what is loose.

The only thing I can do for now is look for missing or loose bolts without tearing into the dash. Assuming most trucks develop the same quirks over time I wonder if anyone has run into this particular noise-causer.

 

On that side you have blower motor, glove box, airbag. Check those items first. You can remove the glove box, test drive. remove the hvac blower motor, test drive. Just a way to help isolate your noise.

 

I think I found it.

I think I found it right away. The plug-in that holds where indicated was broken. It was still sitting on the metal clip so I did not notice it on first observation. I just pulled on the hose and it fell of without resistance. It was just sitting in place.

 

Cool. Fix that and test

 

I need to replace that part and cannot seem to find the wording for exactly what it is.

 

Black zip tie in the short term and then junk yard in the mid to long term.
