2008 Tundra Tailgate Rust

Hi, I love this truck and it is in good shape. I have undercoating every year but the tailgate has developed a bad rust spot. Just wondering if this group would have some recommendations for me. I have an appointment with a body shop next week for them to look at it, I seen where Amazon and ebay sell tailgate shells? or maybe find one at a junk yard? Thank you in advance.

 

a body shop should easily be able to sand that back and remove the rust. It doesn't look bad. My 07 has some rust developing at the bottom of the tailgate, so you might want to check there too.

 

What’s your general location? I have a tailgate, but probably won’t ship.

 

Hard to tell how bad it really is in the pic. If it is rusted through, they might just tell you to get another tailgate depending on the shop and if they’re up to proper patch panel repair.
