I have the McGard on mine.

 

I put one on both sides. 3/4" to 1.5" was the size I used.

 

If they can drop the tailgate then yes. Otherwise, just orient the way it was shown in that picture and when the tailgate is closed, the part you use the screwdriver on is pointing straight up and is inaccessible.

 

When your tailgate is shut, they can't get to it.

 

ok I am slow this morning, no coffee here yet. So yes the tail gate is shut, but they open it and flip it down and boom access with a screwdriver.
So unless the tailgate is locked this device is useless? Or they can still jack the tailgate even when is locked? I am slow and confused now My apology gents

 

Figured out why my seat heater doesn’t work. Now to figure out a fix.

 

If they can drop the tailgate, the hose clamp won't work. My tailgate locks. There are devices that use an actual keyed lock that would be trickier to defeat.

 

I always lock my tailgate with the key, so I think I am good. I never leave my tailgate unlocked. And I have a cover over as well, the MX4 BAK

 

My tailgate locks too, manually with key, and I have added hose clamps as an additional deterrent. Not all tailgates lock with the doors.

Yes, there are other options but at what cost comparatively when a pair of hose clamps is $3? While not 100% theft proof, should be a big of enough deterrent to do the job.

 

If you're keeping your tailgate locked at all times, you're fine.

 

Installed a cheap Amazon dash mat; honestly, it looked better in the pictures. Might need to head off to dash mats.

 

I hadn't heard of Dash Mats before. Just found them ... and those things are sweet! My browser shows them at $65, not too bad if they last for the life of the truck.

 

Spent a little time washing it today to get some of the winter filth off of it.... and decided to name my truck BBC.... aka Big Black Carl..

 

Upgraded the stock style tow mirrors with the GM style. Liking them so far. And they have a sweet sequential turn signal function on the outside. Nice surprise.

Sadly these are factory, although you called it and these shouldn't be factory. Seems like the Tacoma platform has been having this problem for some time. I would be all about soldering wires to the circuit board like some have done, but my board is pretty questionable, that middle pin got super hot and melted all the solder on the board for that pin.
