When traveling or towing I like to have more engine and transmission information than the analog dashboard provides. Using the free iPhone App, Car Scanner, and a Wifi OBDII dongle I am displaying the extra info in a custom dashboard I built in the App. The 9.7" screen iPad fits perfectly into the front cubby in the console or it slides snuggly above the sliding access door in the console lid. (My iPad has a silicone cover which makes it fit snug and not rattle or move) Power can be plugged in at either position. Im still adjusting min/max gauge values and redlines so pay no attention to those. So far Im displaying engine oil pressure and temp, transmission temp and gear position, coolant temp, and turbo boost pressure.

Great setup you built. So a question. I installed the Car Scanner app version and build 1.103.3 on my iOS v 17.2.1 iPhone. The Tundra model ( mine is the 2022 ) does not show up in the Toyota vehicle connection profile list. Which is the best profile choice, ie the one you are using?
    Thanks

    Use Connection Profile Toyota 2016-n.d. OBD-II / EOBD +AT.

Thats a slick setup, thanks for sharing. Still would like to have the app and gauges be accessible on apple car play somehow. Save a screen. But thats a good fit for now.

Absolutely agree. Keep hoping for a good hack to put the whole screen up there. Something better than a $150 adapter.

    PNW Mike,
Did you use the calculated boost for turbo boost? If so what’s your high and low values for it?
I was able to get the values to show on the screen using the carplay app which is nice.

Taylor, the max I've seen is 33.5 psi
I can't remember what I was doing to get this high, it just showed as the maximum one trip
Towing a 5000 lb trailer I see up to 25 psi pretty regularly. Not sure about no trailer.
The lowest I've seen is about 14.4 psi, which is basically no boost and driving on a road a few hundred feet or a thousand feet above sea level pressure. Maybe a warm day affects that too

14.4 at idle ( ambient pressure at sea level ). Stepping on it, low 30's, like 33psi. ( commanded boost pressure A )

    thank you,
Yeah I set up a custom one to adjust for ambient automatically so it shows actual boost pressure.
I was curious if anyone has found a way to monitor turbo temps while towing. I believe there are coolant temp sensors in the turbo area but haven’t confirmed it yet.
