Well...in my case the start and end are the same and the passes give me the highest mpg even compared to rolling hill highway (also with start and end the same)

They also matter if you use cruise control, and it unlocks the TC or shifts to 5th or even 4th to maintain constant speed...you don't get all that excess wasted energy back just by coasting or feathering down the other side.

Canadian Tundras use US gallons for mpg calculations.

I agree, stock 5.7 DC I was averaging 16.5 in mixed driving and 20 in pure highway normal speeds. Sweet spot was 50mph for sure. My 4.6 DC was about 17.5 mixed driving doing the same loops. Adding 35s dropped the 5.7 to 15 mixed, supercharger seemed to have no impact other than premium fuel. My stock 4runner 4.0 is shockingly bad at 17 mixed on the same routes, only 5 gears doesn’t help on the highway.

Drove to Montreal and back from near Ottawa on Saturday. Was curious to see what my fuel economy would be. Was a total of 495 kms with about 95% of that Hwy driving. Kept it at around 110 kph (69 mph), and used 75L of fuel, so about 15L/100km, or about 15.7 MPG. Not too bad in my books. Truck is an 07 CrewMax with the 5.7. Truck is lifted 2.5”, but was on stk size winter tires and has the Toyota one-pc tonneau cover. My 08 Acura MDX is about 14L/100 kms for comparison purposes in combined city/Hwy driving. I also drove my FIL 22 GMC AT4 with the 6.2L recently on a long road trip and it averaged an incredible 15.3L/100km. Interesting, my Tundra at those speeds is just under 2,000 rpm, whereas the GMC was doing just 1,500 rpm.

My full time 4wd 4Runner Limited gets average 10.5L l/100kms – 22 mpg Summer and 11.5L /100kms winter 20.5 mpg. Not bad at all IMO and not in town driving 80-110 km two lane highways. The KDSS suspension is amazing for smoothness of ride and handling for an SUV on a truck frame.
My Tundra TRD OR with the stock OR tires gets 11.5-12 l/100 kms so 20 Summer. sweet spot 50-55 mph. But …..in winter it nosedives to 16/17 L/100kms before it warms up. A family members ’22 GMC Sierra with the 6.2 L engine gets similar 16/17 L/100kms mileage in cold weather.

These numbers are with loaded vehicles going up and down hills. I think 20 MPG with a 350 motor loaded up and down hills is amazing.

And we appreciate it, evidence is always welcome. But you gotta get real with those actively looking to improve MPG regardless of the variables :p

I made the mistake of driving to near Quebec during the height of gas price while towing the camper, every fill up was $250.....

OP, you have a 2016 and only has 40k km?

haha! I make it a point not to buy gas near Montreal. In places in Montreal it was $1.60/L compared to $1.42/L in Ontario.

Yes sir, only 40,000kms on it. It was my father in laws truck and he hardly drove it. He's 83 and stopped driving this summer. When I purchased it from him it only had 32,000kms on it.
