Anyone know if I could put 20” rims w Mickey Thompson 35” on my pro w no rub or lifting? Maybe someone has done this…
Found a good deal on some MT’s. Would like to find a good deal on some Methods to complement them..

    Thanks for any productive info.

You might be the first person to try and put 35" tires on a third gen!!! If only there was a way to search for such a question.

Why would you take off the bbs forged pro wheels and put on aftermarket 20”s?

Wheel diameter is irrelevant a 35” tire on a 20” wheel is the same size tire as a 35” on an 18” wheel.

yes and no, the sidewalls are much different so the wheel size does matter, but I get what your saying about overall diameter

I understand all of that. But OP asked if he could run 35s on 20s without rubbing or lifting. In this case, he’s not concerned about side wall, only diameter. Which is obviously vague because changing wheels will most likely change offset and introduce a whole other set of issues. But that’s a whole different rabbit hole lol

yup, understood, just trying cover all the bases

op, there , forget the 20”s lol.

just keep in mind the 35s are going to be load e and heavy as hell so don’t come back bitching about mpg or impact on the hybrid system, you have to pay to play if you want that big tire look

That is my confusion. I was thinking I couldn’t put the tires found on my BBS wheels since they are 20” and mine are 18”. So I was thinking I needed to get new 20” wheels. Ignorant on this whole tire concept so trying to figure stuff out. Obviously 18” - 20” is 2” difference, so it doesn’t make sense.

ok, didn’t realize where we are at with this

you can absolutely get 35” on an 18” wheel. It’s just a matter of what you like

so don’t get rid of your pro wheels , there is a massive tire thread here on this.

Ahhh well OP @Coachcleats90 that makes more sense now..... the actual question was. "I don't understand how tire size and wheel size are related." See below for some reading. Putting a 35" tires on a 20" rim is very common on here, its just more common to put them on an 18" or 17" rim to maximize sidewall for a better ride off-road with lower air pressure.

Offset of wheels is another lesson. Will a 35" tire work on a 20" rim? yes it will. That all depends on how wide the tire size is and the offset of rim. There are many threads discussing this topic...hence the maybe you're the first to consider this.

    https://www.tirerack.com/upgrade-garage/how-do-i-read-my-tire-size-on-my-sidewall?gclid=CjwKCAiAq4KuBhA6EiwArMAw1BzmUeMXXg9J4Nf5ctfqoprLLtRWiVDHYndSADzlxseBg1QtvZ5AYhoCN1cQAvD_BwE&ef_id=CjwKCAiAq4KuBhA6EiwArMAw1BzmUeMXXg9J4Nf5ctfqoprLLtRWiVDHYndSADzlxseBg1QtvZ5AYhoCN1cQAvD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!3756!3!354820920464!e!!g!!tire sizes explained&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1

You can compare tire size at that site above here is a comparison of the 20" and 18" tires that come on say a limited vs a PRO and how they compare to each other (285/65/18 vs 265/60/20).
